Well as of this last run I'm down to just a little over 77 hours left of training. I decided to stick it out the whole training session with my trainer because 1 I wanted to get the $500 bonus after my 1st solo load. And 2 I got a really cool trainer he was one of those old school truckers who taught me the way things used to be and the way they should be now. I had a GPS but he still taught me map reading logging etc. not only was he a good trainer he grew to be a good friend.
We did a lot of the same running el paso to MO to IL and back it was a lot of fun and got to drive a lot during it. I learned a lot of the basics to trucking and a lot of professional tactics I never would have guessed about the whole killing your lights signal without my trainer and when i would have i probably would have used my high beams. He taufht me CB slang and a bunch of other things about the trucking industry that i did not know about.. I've heard horror story's about trainers that are just in it for the money and not in it to make a trucker and for some reason think that has a lot to do with the younger generation truckers and the way they are. It also inspired me to be a trainer sure the money is good but you also get the satisfaction of knowing i made a trucker out of my student... i really get what a lot of you mean by this job. I personally love it... I like the idea of being able to drive down the road love what i do and not really care when my next paycheck is going to come in. I get bored during layovers and my trainers home time because I just want to drive and i really dont care where to. Also i have this forum to thank.. a lot of you guys have givin me some good advice. I cant wait to get my own truck and start hauling my own loads.![]()
Down to my last week of training with Werner

I hope, pretty much finished w my hours now. My biggest problem has been he gets impatient sometimes when im backing and he almost backed me into a car yesterday. i had stopped when I couldnt go any further and he was like, come on! Until he walked around and saw it, but for the most part, from the stories ive heard I think it could have been worse. I just want to make it to the next step. Glad to hear you had a good trainer
