Referral bonus????? Not one currently at FFE, so the advise here is those looking for a company that provides training. Provided by folks that spent months doing research, like most of the people reading this thread.
As for sitting....I have had very little time...sitting. I do have a little breather today due to a hard run from Denver to ....uh ...where am I?....Ah...New Hampshire. We got in at 7 am and deliver at 11 PM so we had a chance to unwind a bit.
Oh Trey....I heard that they are measuring necks now at the Lancaster Terminal.
So start doing neck squats or whatever....the C-pap machine is in your future!
Tigger....Training here is what I expected, 2 weeks in school and 6 weeks with a trainer. I haven't heard any horror stories from the students in my class. I have 2 more weeks and test out for my own truck.

I hope all is going well. I am glad this thread has helped a bunch of people choose a career here at FFE. When I started this thread I didn't realize how big it would get. Let's keep it going. Spat hang in there I know it's getting close to y'all testing out proud of ya for hanging in there with Tim, trust me I know it's hard. I just came back from home time ready to leave out tomorrow.

When you get into trucking, you are going to have to start somewhere. If you stay with a company like FeeFee and survive it for a year, you will get out the other side with a wealth of knowledge that you can use the rest of your career.
It is only a year and it is not like you are obligated for the rest of your life. If you hate pulling reefers, you can do something else. You'll never stop learning and anything you learn will help. Going to work for a disorganized, fragmented carrier will quickly teach you all the little tricks for getting things done without wasting as much of your time. The trucking career is what you make of it and FFE is far from perfect but it is a way in. Lisa used to take many of my students that no one else would consider because of background issues. The FFE school is right where I use to stop and take students that were about to graduate after being turned down by other companies. It is true they will take anyone with a pulse, but would we expect them to take those without a pulse?
Everyone has to start somewhere. -

How long are you out with a trainer OTR?
-
If you keep your mouth hushed, pay attention, realize you know nothing, and follow instruction, you will be forced to suceed
....you won't be able to help it. There were some doozies with our bunch
(huh steel gal..ha ha) but they endured. The program is set up to pass you, qualified for a trainer, not a driver.. a trainee. Even if you have experience, hush and re-learn. There are several things I had to relearn, and I am glad I paid attention, because I use these base skills to enhance my existing experience
. Trust me, there are people out there driving that should not be...see 'em everyday
. Think of it like this, your training is to protect you and the public from these people, and ensure your loads are successful and secure
. But, if you look at it as a time frame, you are setting yourself to fail:smt069. I still remember sweating out the first 3 days of the academy, now its done. it will go by fast. Don't rush it.

EAT ME -
Hey fellas. First post on here. Read this thread start to finish. Lots of useful information. My dad has been a truck driver his whole life and I think I'm ready to get into the haul. I'm 27 now and weighing my options on how to get into the industry. My dad wants me to take a class at a community college, but my issue with that is having to quit my current job in order to do it. That leaves me at over a month with no paychecks (probably a 4-6 week course) and then even longer trying to find a job.
I'm getting more intrigued about trying to sign on with FFE and their acadamy, due to being guaranteed a job after course completion and the short length of the course. But my biggest concern (and my dad's as well) is how long do you guys stay out on the road after you start driving? I've heard some nightmare stories about CR England keeping their graduation drivers out for over a month straight. I've got a wife and kid and wouldn't really want to spend more than 2 weeks gone at a time. I understand I'll be gone a bit longer than that if I start the acadamy because it's about 2 weeks of school then you start with the trainer. But you're not out for a solid 6 weeks with the trainer right?
Thanks for all the great info here guys. If I can get a positive answer on my question I will definitely be more interested in giving FFE a shot as my way into trucking. -
kelidus from what i know of most companies unless you are close to the home of your trainer then there is little chance of getting home during training. but it is only 8 weeks. it is one of those suck it up moments. i don't seam to be harsh or disrespectfull at all but it is something you will have to deal with at most places. as for the england thing, i was out 3 months before i saw my house and they tried to get me to stay home fore under 24 hours(3 hours after getting home i got a call for a load they wanted me to take) so they are pretty much trash, let alone my drunk trainer and my verbaly abusive trainer. i chose to go to ffe9start this thursday) because of what these fine fellows on here and others on this forum have said about the company. sounds like it will be a great fit for me and hope it looks as good to you. wish you the best of luck man.
