if you are happy there cool. i'm not going to knock a hard working person for working. i know that people who are thinking of getting into trucking read this thread.it is the most popular one, concerning stevens. and if a guy is single with nothing to lose and everything to gain.then stevens can be a good fit. BUT, the economy is screwed up. and desperation can cause others, who need 40k or better to pay their bills,to be conned into showing up at stevens. my post is a warning to them .they will get screwed,by showing up at stevens.they need to stay away from stevens and look for other opportunities.

Learning it was a snap. But I do have a good strong background in computers, so that could make a huge difference in learning curve.
What I meant though, was the QC is slow. Every time I use it I have to wait at least several times for it to react to the on-screen button I pressed or register the menu choice I just touched, or for a menu to even open so I can choose duty status or something else. And I do mean wait. Not ten seconds, not a breath and a roll of the eyes, but W A I T.
    IT IS SLOW
    Glacially slow.
And it shuts down in the middle of doing a message once in a while. Then you have to wait something like five to ten minutes for it to reboot and be usable again.
I just did my PTI reports (macro58 and 59), my daily log approval, and my daily report (01), and it took 23 minutes. Just to do those four daily things.
Used to be doing the daily #1 took three or four minutes tops, and rest of logs less than five minutes. All done.

As for personal driving, I don't know. It never occurred to me to ask. Didn't see anything about that in the little book they gave me either.
As I remember understanding the law on it, if you lease or own, as long as you don't have a loaded trailer or are bobtail, you just stay off duty. This ELog wouldn't allow that, because if you go over 25MPG or over 2 miles, it goes "On Duty - Driving" automatically.

What are you talking about? In all the time I was at Stevens, I never once had to pick up a trailer full of pallets. I'm beginning to think that you're just a hater that probably has never worked for Stevens, or at least washed out at any rate. Leave the negative crud for the other forums filled with complainers like you.:biggrin_25523:

    Smokr,

As a computer tech I can tell you that what you're describing could be a memory issue with the unit itself. When the system takes that long to open a menu (locally within the machine on your truck) there is usually a hardware issue at the root of it all. I would check to see if you can get in to see a qualcomm service center and describe the issue to them. My concern is that the lockups and shutdowns will continue until the system quits completely ... and ... if that were to happen on the yard in Laredo ... well, you get the idea.

If it were a computer I'd put together, I'd start by swapping memory, then CPU, then the mobo. But it's a little gray box that I can't do anything to.
It acts as if every screen and menu has to be queried over a congested network and wait for the data to arrive.
And it loves to lock up for a minute or more as it swaps between screens. As if the 'video card' were junk. lol

As for hauling a trailer of pallets, fine with me so long as it paid. I don't care if I haul frozen meat, crackers or air.

Why don't you start any of your sentances with upper case letters? Just curious.

Well it is official, I start Sept 5 for orientation. Had a really good recruiter this time. There is an overload of applicants at Stevens Right now, I really had to jump through some hoops in order to be excepted. I have good work history, and education, and no felony record. The recruiter never bull**** me once, just answered questions to the best of her ability. Excited to drive, really excited. I come to you guys expecting to put in my time as a grunt, with a smile on my face. Get these 4 months of dirt pay out of the way and start solo. Hope to hear more updates of loads and routes in the months that follow. You guys inspired me to move forward with this dream......thanks :biggrin_25514:

Hmmm, is this a thinly veiled attempt at humor? Or is it that you truly can't read. I said that I have NEVER hauled a trailer load of empty pallets. You're just being asinine. :biggrin_25520:

BTW, are you insinuating that you have access to load documents? Are you trying to say that you know better than I? That's hilarious. <-- one 'l' in hilarious.:biggrin_25523:If you're attempting to paint me as an idiot ... you have one long row to hoe. Get a life and start your own thread in the "I Have A BS Story About A Trucking Company That I've Never Worked For" forum. That's where the like of you belongs.:biggrin_25526:

To everyone else, sorry about getting on my soap box. Guys that think they know what fresh air smells like when their head is obviously in a dark dank place irritate me.:biggrin_25525:
