It depends really on how FAR I'll have to go 45 mph. If I'm about to run out of it, I'll just keep going. But at 45 mph, I can't sit there and idle along like that very long because eventually it'll start eating up my 11 hours. About 50% of the time, I'm pulling a Tyson load that was loaded late but still has to be ON TIME, EVERY TIME, even if it's raining Volkswagens. No time for ANYTHING, ... sometimes it's hard to even find time to stop for FUEL. Tyson seems to think my company's trucks have wings or something just because even when we're loaded late, we still have a 97% on-time rating with them. We're their top carrier for on-time delivery. If it's 3 in the morning, we're to call our company vice president's cell phone and wake him up if there's ANYTHING that's gonna cause a late delivery, and they'll switch things around so another driver with a better looking log book can get it there. Aint no time for idling along like an old geezer to save a tenth of a MPG. We gots ta GO! We make our money by HAULING the freight, not storing it in our trailers.![]()

Hey im a newbie here but have been reading the threads for a while now and i am thinking about joning Prime. Got a question though, i read on a thread that if you have your cdl but no experience they wont hire you. Is this true? Some more info on that. I had to get my cdl through the tech school i was attending in order to graduate and havent drivin a truck since and that was in 2009. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Prime hires guys whove just got out of CDL school, think it must be within 6 weeks of graduation. You must go through a training program so you know how they do things. I think it is 40,000 miles with a trainer.... I would call Prime recruiting and ask them.

I'm curious; When i call the recruiting hot line posted on their website primeinc.com
I waited(on hold) a whole hour and just finally gave up; Is there anyway faster asking them a question about the hiring validation(s)? -
When was the last time you were at home? Was the grass even green yet?
What does it feel like Swift blows your doors off?
