wanting to be a o/o such a bad idea i believe. first you have a 500 dollor heavy road usage tax, 2,100 for plates and permits, then you figure most companys want to give u .83 per mile and then only give u 2800 miles per week. that = 2324 a week now figure out your fuel cost per week, about 500 gal. a week and multiply that buy your fuel cost not a preaty site.
he would be better off being a company driver.

No he wouldn't if he gets the loads and brokers. I hate when people put numbers out there based on some CHEAP freight they got suckered into. There is still good freight out there and i never run over 1000 to 1500 miles a week and am home every night. The only people running that road for .83cpm are those who must like truckstops. The absolute biggest myth around is that you have to sleep in your truck to make GOOD money as an O/O. Nobody in my yard runs the road except for an occasional trip that was too good to pass up. Why do we keep telling people to be a "company driver" when there are plenty of us out here under our own authority doing VERY well. So if your hearts in it go for it and stay away from the ones who want you to be a puppet for some company because they had a bad experience. I'm rooting for you.
