Where should i go to start a career as a truck driver and why. I only have a class b

how fast was the speeding tickets, if close to 3 years ago it might not be a problem as long as you weren't 15 miles over, What about job history? If you get a job at any starter company the best you will see is $40k

If you need money fast, you are in trouble. Setting all this up, going to school, riding with your trainer, etc. is going to take a few months and a few dollars. As far as FFE goes, run as far from those crooks as possible, horrible company.

 

It is July 1st,you have your "B" and EVERYWHERE I go there is road construction..What's the problem? Many road construction companies are National,you know,work in Texas 3-4 months,etc.,then move on to next job..What's wrong with that,I have been thinking of doing it myself. Ooops,July2nd..1 day off in my world;not bad,not bad at all..

 

Big Al, Why would you say FFE are crooks? Im getting paid...so far so good.

 

Bumpy I am a month into my first summer construction job and I love it. The fact that is temporary is what appeals to me, and knowing I am not stuck in anyone place. Commitment issues much? lol

Good point but I gotta point out tho,its hard to get hire as a driver in the construction field unless you have 1-2 years experience.Lot of them want you to all ready have experience driving dump trucks and knowing how to lay asphalt etc.With out prior experience,its hard.

 

As for me;oh yeah,references available upon request... As for the OP's particular problem,is it not the same for everyone STARTING out? I have read over and over on here people with the same problem. I still maintain that for them,and in this particular situation,if he looks HARD enough for a road construction job,and if he is WILLING to work for $10 an hour,he SHOULD be able to find work,and gain experience,which everyone wants..Otherwise,go to a CDL mill or a training company,spend $5000 or more,and then,most likely,read on a NEW thread what all went wrong..That "corny" saying,"with a will,there's a way" holds much truth,and even in my DARKEST moments,I have held on to that,in one form or another.

 

I agree, I better not mention I am making $32 and hour haling asphault and $ 20.50 when I haul back gravel and I was hired with 6 months experience. It would blow his theory.
