I have a felony for theft and misdemeanors - can I be a truck driver?

And then I put my stones in my pocket and walked away. Maybe I offered some constructive criticism or possibly I offered some helpful advice if I had any.

Theft felony and drugs? Ain't that a pre-requisit for govt work? Try your local DOT, maybe become a scale house operator?

Heck, pick a busy rest area..... set up a baby barn equipped with a couple of air hoses/bells like the old servicestations had and start your own "scale house". Prolly years and many thou in "fines" before anyone catches on.

Don't give up , sooner or later someone will give you a chance. The felony will always follow you around & some companies will never forgive you for it. I was convicted of felony drug possession 35 yrs. ago and it still affects me when i apply for jobs eventhough i have 30 safety awards 0 violations in a truck & millions of miles experience & 29yrs. with one company.
Now when i get rejected i know its thier loss not mine. I don't want to work for anyone who still wants to punish me 35 yrs. later.

I have a felony from '91, I've been driving for 14 yrs, 13.5 with the same company. When I started driving it was easier, but now it's gotten much harder to get your foot in the door. Try a small mom/pop type company, typically, unlike the "Jesus Christ Wannbe's" on here who have never answered an honest question about their background, they will be more leniant and willing to give someone a second chance at life.

As for the JC Wanabe's, if any of you (and you know who you are in this thread) want to debate my comments, bring it on. I challenged Moron, I'm sorry, Rerun about 6 mos. ago in another thread after he made similar comments and he disappeared from the board for a month rather than answer the questions I posed to him and the others in that thread who refused to answer my questions, so that says a lot about them.

 

I'm far from religious, and I've been known to critique and criticize, but, unless you have nail holes in your hands and ankles, crown of thorn marks on your forehead, keep you asinine "your a felon so go dig a ditch" comments to yourself.

Talk to people who work in the CJ system, one thing I've heard from several people I know, one of the causes of repeat offenders, is lack of outside support. They can't get a job, no one will touch them, when I prospective date hear's they have a felony they decline to date that person, etc., etc.. Then, people complain every day about the cost of prisons, but look at the comments on this Board:

"Gee...can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want a freakin' thief workin' for 'em. Go figger."

"Sometimes I wonder if these posts are by trolls who like getting the TTR gang riled up" and this one got a thumbs up from the peanut gallery, although the poster is part of a Union that is known for felonious activities, go figure.

ive got no use for a thief.....btw tell your buddy thanks for breaking into my new at the time truck and stealing a bunch of my things.....while i was at work (you know, actually working for a living) " and there you go, a HUGE thank you to the peanut gallery.

So my question to these JC Wannabes, care to discuss your past, every last minute detail of it, maybe submit to a full on background check that is even more intrusive than what a company would preform. I guarentee there is something in your past that a prospective employer would have a problem with that you probably "forgot" to tell them about. Maybe that 6 pk you drank and didn't take a full 10 to 12 hrs off before driving a semi, or maybe those 2 beers/shots/wine glasses you had during dinner with your SO and then drove home, etc., etc., etc., etc. But then again, I'm expecting these people to be honest as well, without a lie detector, there is no way to know if they are being honest either.

Only someone holy enough to call others names and belittle their opinions and comments would look down their nose at others and make negative comments that include "Jesus Christ" in the name.

You to are welcome to your comments and opinions just as the ones you call names are. Why you landed with your claws out in the attack mode is beyond my comprehension.

IMHO, your behavior and attitude are unacceptable for the TTR Forum. If you'll notice my post #22, I'm not the one throwing stones at the OP and suggest that others shouldn't either. Still I don't look down my nose at anybody and make posts intended to provoke a negative response and start a fight.

You appear to be angry that some have made negative comments directed at the OP. They made their comments based on laws being broken and patterns of behavior. Then you make negative comments directed at them. You make yours based on a difference of opinion. Take a look in the mirror and see if you don't find a person like the ones you seem to hate staring back at you.

While my comments here reflect my opinion, their intention is to allow you to examine your behavior and decide if it is acceptable. They are not meant to start a battle and be aware I will not engage in a battle. I'm here to exchange information not fight with drivers who are unhappy and looking for a fight.

I have things in my past that I have had to work to overcome. Still I understand others attitude toward breaking the law. If I don't want to get beat up for my mistakes, I don't air them in public. I decided years ago to take responsibility and overcome my mistakes. In doing so they have been little more than a bump in the road. I refuse to let my mistakes or others feelings about them cause me to have a bad attitude. Our personal attitude and how we deal with our mistakes has a lot to do with what kind of response we get from others and how hard our way on the road of life is.
