I am sure at your age, you have seem plenty of evidence to the fact that my saying is true....We reap what we sow. That goes for both positive and negative...

Insurance companies play a big part in who gets hired when they have a THEFT conviction on their record.

I'm betting the biggest problem a felon will have in getting hired today is the current state of the economy. With high unemployment, there's more people competing for jobs, so the companies can be more picky. The trucking industry isn't much different in that aspect.

I think you are right about the economy affecting an ex-felons chances. Five years ago when i left a large food company i had driven for & held a variety of transp. related positions for including driver hiring. I reminded them at my exit interview that i had a felony conviction & pointed out that eventhough they hired me 29 yrs. earlier, thier current policy on felonies would not alloow them to hire me, They agreed it would have been a shame for them to not have hired me, as i had become an icon over the years. One of the very few things that i ever got mad at that company for was a few yrs. before i left, they wouldn't let me hire an ex-felon that was working his tail off as a temp. on the fuel island to a full time position. All because he had a 10yr. old drug conviction.I raised cain over this when it happened & at my exit interview. They admitted that it was a stupid policy.
People can and do change! I'am absolute proof of that, i'm grateful that i was given a second chance. If you didn't murder or committ serious violence against someone,& can stay clean you definately deserve a second chance.
I read somewhere a few years ago that there are 5 million non-violent EX-felons currently recieving a lifetime of punishment for making 1 stupid decision at a young age.But if you are a politition or an illegal alien its O.K.
CHANGE is just 17 months away!!!!!!!!!

Really? Dumb question. You want a perfect stranger to put you in THEIR truck when you are a convicted thief?

Put yourself in their shoes. Say you had a truck and trailer. You wanted to hire somebody to drive it around country hauling millions of dollars worth of product. Are you gonna hire a stranger who is a convicted thief? If so, you are an idiot. Just being honest.

Sure, you can search, search, and search, but you have slim to no chances. Here is my advice: find a different trade. You can still make good money in the workforce. You are just gonna have to search.

I am sorry if I hurt any feelings, but hey....you gotta be a realist. Not a dreamer.

    As for Strikers comments?

You can kiss my Jesus Freak behind. EVERYONE is entitled to their opinions. You can debate the issues all day, but to get on here and call ppl out because you don't agree with them...??...I am sorry, but tat is a FAIL!

Those convictions are at or close to 15 years old.

You'll get a job, driving something, somewhere........

Forget most all the big companies, you don't want to work at most of them

    anyways !!!

I have seen reprobates that slide through life like they were the second coming and I have seen good, decent folks that were screwed over constantly. What you say has a kernel of truth, but unfortunately it's not a hard and fast rule as the statement you made implies...That's why believers, do believe, we reap what we sow...but the saying references the Supreme Justice getting things plumb and square at the end. It doesn't always happen (the karma thing) in this lifetime. I meant no disrespect to you...
