Well just finished my first day at Prime as a Prime Student Driver and have enjoyed it so far. The program is very well run and everyone has been real cool so far. So far I would recommend it to anyone who is coming into the industry.

My day so far consisted of some classes, fingerprinting, DOT physical, pee test, an interview, and some time on the Simulator.

Everything is paid for, from the rooms to your food. On the food, you have a limit to how much you can spend and you gotta pay the difference if you go over. They give you enough for a good meal all week though. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner) The whole motel you stay at is owned by Prime, you do pretty much everything on the motel campus except for the last day. So this is a nice convenience.

I will have to take the Sleep Apnea test which I'm obviously not to happy about. For people who are curious.

The test itself is $130 which is taken in $50 increments out of your paycheck.

If you test positive for it, you are required to get the machine which is $2000 :biggrin_2551:. This is also paid back in $50 increments over 36 months. You also have to use the machine every time you go to sleep and have to report back to the doctors on your use of it.

I talked to a handful of experienced drivers who all complained about how much they hate the machine. So I really hope I don't test 'positive'.

That's one of the few things I've heard people complain about regarding Prime though. (besides the people complaining we can't drink) Everything else has been real positive. The Millennium building is awesome, has a full gym, full basketball court, big store, and much more in it. Not to mention a great cafeteria.

For incoming people, I recommend putting off buying things besides your sleeping bag prior to coming as you can get just about everything you need at the store.

Anyway, been positive so far, just hoping my sleep test is negative. Here's some pics I took over at the Millennium building.

Hopefully my adventure continues to be positive with Prime and I shall update more in the coming days. Any questions from future Primers feel free to ask.

Thanks for the great post man. I'm hoping to start at Prime on the 26th. I look forward to reading more about your experience.

Good luck with prime. I'm on the flatbed side and I love it! Just stay away from the super truckers and don't be afraid to ask questions!

For me its a minor annoyance to sleep with it... However I feel sooo much better with it on when I wake up in the morning. Without it I constantly wake up in the middle of the night, I usually have a sore throat from snoring, Im tired, and feel like crap. Oh, I sleep alot less too.

At my one year mark, I had a 96 percent usage... which is excellent and I dont get hassled by the docs. If you got a computer it is really easy to download the infor to Sleep Pointe... and if you dont there are a list of TA and Petros that have the card reade and software built into the TriPak scan stations. (quite a few, but not all TAs or Petros)

Nah. I've seen the training pad but it's my understanding that we don't start that till Friday. Plus I still got to finish my sim training. Awesome you were here, pity I missed you, so many people there. I probably saw you and just didn't know. haha

It's nice to hear some positive input on it. So many people seemed pissed about it. If it could help me, I wouldn't mind but the money is my biggest issue, even with it coming out of my paycheck. I'll let ya know about my results.

Sleeping with a CPAP machine is not too bad. I have had one for years now. It took me a bit of time to find a mask I like but now I can hardly tell I have the thing on. My pressures are high so I am now on a BiPAP my pressure in in something like 20 and out is 12 hard to explain but if the pressure was not lower out then I would puff(mouth opens) and the machine was useless. It is really not that bad.
