How are trips planned? Does dispatch give you the route or do you route it yourself?

    Thanks :)

A route is recommended, it is up to you to check to make sure its the best route. I've gone through I20 on my way to the Port of Mobile...

Sure... depends on where you're going. Also depends on if you let a GPS box do your thinking for you. If you're thinking about home time, they find a load to get you home - its not dependant on whether you're on a given route.

On the company side you're given a fuel route - and you're expected to adhere to it unless you get authorization from your FM to deviate from it. On the lease side, you do your own routing.

Thanks IP and ORD. I live off I-20 in La and was wondering how easy it was for my FM to find a load here when I request home time. Doesn't sound like it will be too much trouble.

My application has been approved and we are waiting on the results of my background check to come back. It should be back today according to my recruiter, but she is off today. Hopefully I will know something tomorrow. Everything else is a GO and barring anything unforeseen, I should be able to start on the 26th. Man I'm ready!!

You are usually assigned to an instructor and trainer. Don't worry - if things don't work out with them, you can work a change through your FM.

No one forces leasing on students or company drivers at Prime. Anyone who tells you that is a total jerk, and is lying to you. I drove for the company side for 3 years, and never heard one word about it. U2_exit will tell you the same thing.

We have been company for a year now, the ONLY time he was asked if he wanted to be a l/o was when he upgraded from trainee to driver. He said no and they told him if he changed his mind let them know. NOTHING more has ever been said about it!!

Like IP said, if they say that is the way it is they are lying to you!! And we are not treated any worse or better because of our decision, either way we are made to feel like we are an important part of the company!!
