Phil:Just shut up, do your job, and keep your door closed, and you can still easily get 2500-3000+/wk on the 11 side. I've talked to a select few who understand that concept, and they are doing just fine. That goes for any company, dry or reefer. I don't complain, I do my job (well) and I get all the miles I can handle. There will always be a few rough weeks here and there, but that's part of the 'game'

as far as lady trainers...I have yet to a see a solo lady driver for May, they are usually part of a team. Personally, it's not like anybody should be walking around all 10 sq feet of the truck nekkid, so I'm not sure what difference it makes. It's only for 2-3 wks, just suck it up.
I die around cigarette smoke, but I dealt with a smoking trainer...it's only a few weeks, eyes on the prize, and all that lol

    Philnation Thanks this.

Beautiful, thanks for answering. I am pretty sure that I can handle that, but I suppose being a student I have yet to find out. I have a strong work ethic though, so I suppose that will help. I hope to see you and all the other May drivers out there soon, just waiting on first approval from Leona. :biggrin_25519:

You guys are better than me, I don't smoke and smelling it gives me bad allergies.

Its not that they cannot suck it up and go out with a guy, its May's policy to not put females with male drivers to prevent any sexual harassment allegations. Sexual harassment lawsuits can be very costly to a company.

I know it doesn't always happen, but most male trainers are afraid to take ladies out because of that. Most people tend to believe the female over the male in those situations, and because of that, guys are not willing to risk getting fired or sued.

Agreed. They can say anything to gain a position or to get someone fired. I had a friend get another friend a job and tried that back.on them.

What are the instructors like at May orientation? I know that's a very broad question, but as an example, I struggled a bit with down shifting in school and even struggled a bit when testing for CDL, but they still gave me my CDL because i'm a safe driver and I did improve with shifting quite a bit. Will the instructors work with me on the shifting issues or send me back home? :biggrin_2554:

The instructor for orientation is looking to see if you can drive the truck and do it safely. Don't pull any boneheaded moves, like shifting over rr trax, hitting curbs, going to fast or not using signals etc. Once you get on the road, your trainer will work on your shifting with you.

me too, but I'm wasn't about to be a whiny b!tch before I even had a chance to make the company money. So, I sucked it up, and got on the truck. Not to mention, you never know when the next trainer might come by to take you!

Leona scheduled me for an August 23rd orientation. Can't wait to get going with May, but due to family obligations that have been planned for a year...I am going to have to :biggrin_255: I'm just happy to meet first approval with a great company
