The company/broker I run a few loads here and there just got another new pete come in. It has a PACCAR motor in it. From what I've read in here, that motor usually spends more time in the shop than on the road. Well I spoke to the driver before he started driving it and told him what I've read here, Well guess what, the first day he took it out on a load, the check engine light came on. He also said it was GUTLESS, Anyway's, it's at the shop now. I ask the owner why he bought the PACCAR motor, he said the salemans said it will pass all emissions and its the EMISSIONS motor of the future. So I ask you, Is this true or a sales pitch ?

    Sounds like BS to me.........

Why they can't stick with tried and true tech is beyond me......

Seems to me they're attempting to reinvent the wheel instead of fine tuning it.....

Yes, I'm coming up with the same#; 03-06212. I tried knowledge-basing it through Paccar, and can not find a cross.

The valve is made by Hadley, and you can get it through any OEM. The valve is without a dump, and here is a link to Hadley's site with hcv's:

Part# H00500CB. Shop around brother, someone is sure to give ya a deal.

We are seeing them come in to the shop for check engine lights concerning the SCR system. The majority of the time, it is because the driver does not refill the DEF(diesel exhaust fluid). This can result in a check engine light and engine de-rating.

    See here: http://www.peterbilt.com/uploaded/manual/Engine Aftertreatment Systems.pdf

So, i do not think it is a salespitch, since all new Pete's are going to drift towards the Paccar engines eventually, and especially since Caterpillar will be phasing their engines out of OEM service in the near future (except in their own brand of vehicle which they are producing with International).

Make sure the brake pedal isn't "stuck". Had that happen just last week on one of ours. Had some junk under the back of the peddle, vacumned it out and squirted some PB blaster on the pin, problem solved.

Not stuck....Trolley brake is not activated either.....

My brother who is an electrical engineer, thinks it could be the capacitors that drain slowly.....
