Once you have that done, don't sit on it. A CDL with no experience behind it has a very short shelf-life.

Prime is running an ad on satellite radio right now that they guarantee $102,000 revenue for 100,000 miles. Are they kidding? I wouldn't be bragging about that peanut pay.

They're not bragging about anything. That's a MINIMUM guarantee of the linehaul split averaged over every 100,000 miles - and doesn't include FSC. The only time the guarantee comes into play is when the economy is bad enough to not support higher rates. Its a mechanism built into the structure of the lease to assure a driver that they'll have enough income to meet their obligations and be able to eat in the worst of economic situations.

For instance, the first 2 quarters of this year, my gross income has worked out to be $1.739 per mile. The guarantee assures us that the linehaul portion of that number won't sink below 1.02 per mile.

So you are saying that you have been paid, to the truck $ 1.739 per mile, for all miles, loaded or empty.

Additionally, I don't understand why they would not mention in the ad that the 1.02 does not include FSC. To spend all that money on advertising and not state a very pertinent fact that would make the deal much more attractive makes no sense to me.

We're paid a percentage of linehaul (72% in my case,) FSC, plus detention, stop pay, etc. When you average those payments (gross income) over my dispatched miles (loaded and empty) for the first half of this year it comes out to 1.739 per mile. They're just stating the minimum guarantee that you won't contractually go below in that advert. IMO, if you can't do better than that minumum here, you'd be well advised to sign-up as a company driver.

Hmmm... maybe they should have consulted you before they started plugging that!

Jccwall arrived at Campus in at 11pm last night and started orientation this morning. Nothing too unexpected, he's missing me (good) and my cooking (even better).

Your idea of a "years' salary" is rather unimpressive. You should trade up.
