I am headed to NLR next Sunday.
    Any advice going through orientation?
From what i have read and heard they can be quite selective.

Do EXACTLY as they say, don't be a screwup and participate as much as you can. Be early for everything including coming back from breaks. Don't even take a cell phone to class. The yard is a major dead spot anyway and you will be lucky to get a signal. If you make it to the barn, be the guy who WANTS to learn how to do it right, not the one that hangs back and watches.

They have had guys come in and get wasted (yes drunk, high, whatever) at their own company hotel that is located 500 feet from the training center and then be late for class. That's what I mean by not being a screwup.

If you can physically do the job and are decent at taking instruction and have a good positive attitude it's a no-brainer. But they WILL weed out the ones that don't fit.

    Good luck

that's the way it should be, instead of letting the rookies destroy brand new trucks.
and apparently, after meeting some of the newer crowd, their not as selective in NLR as they used to be.

Could someone please tell me what Maverick's detention policy is? What kind of benefits do they offer? What are the average miles that drivers are getting at this time? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

    $8 an hour after 2-3 hours (I forget which...its 3 hours I think)
    401k...I don't know the particulars of it though, I don't have a 401k.
I've had nearly 3,000 miles for all of the last 3 weeks...haven't been home though, no restarts either. (Yes, my ### is dragging)

3000 miles???? For the last three weeks and no restarts??? Not on elogs you didnt. This guy wants honest info not super-trucker bs. Realistically on e-logs you will only average 2400 a week with the occasional higher week if you dont go home. Then youre next week suffers ESPECIALLY if you dont get a restart. Go spread that 3000mi crap at the yard and see if someone doesnt call you a liar to your face,I would if you said you were runnin e-logs.

I'm not on elogs, and those are my miles...I haven't had a day to sit still in 3 weeks.

This is Wednesday....when I get unloaded today at 1300, that will be 2,100 miles for this week, already.

He asked, I answered....and I really don't care whether you, him, or anybody on the yard believe me.

I didn't intend on ruffling any feathers. Just wanted some info to make an educated decision.

No feathers ruffled here...I manage my time...and this is not the first time somebody told me it was impossible to get those miles and run legal, won't be the last either.

What decision are you trying to make?

I'm waiting to get unloaded so I can get on the pre-plan I've got...its a short one, it took 3 weeks but despite my best efforts at managing my time...I'm finally running short on hours.

Elogs...Yep, sooner or later I'll be on them too. I've already decided that I'll give them my best shot (same as I always do) and see how they work...I can live on 2,400 miles a week just fine. I don't know what got into Mav that made them run me so hard the last few weeks, and don't care...I'll take those miles, but don't have to have them. I am one of the few remaining that isn't on elogs yet...Why me? I have no idea...

In a nutshell, I'll give the elogs an honest effort...if they don't fit me...I'll give Maverick 2 weeks notice, return the keys to that shiny new truck...and move on somewhere else.

    No hard feelings, at all...
