"Take the cord and wrap around the mount as suggested to take the Ferrite bead's weight off the cord."
As I said in a previous post, " one problem is the small round magnet located about four inches from the plug, its weight, combined with bouncing around on crappy roads is partially to blame"
It "might" be a problem, I have had numerous cell phones with the same type of connection, NONE have ever loosened internally like this one, there is something wrong inside the unit itself, obviously I wouldn't dare to take it apart, but there has to be someone at the RAND repair facility who might want to look into this, maybe another solution would be to move the fer rite magnet further away, also, if this is a problem, why doesn't RAND include this info with the set-up directions, but, I shouldn't have to wrap the cord around anything to work, I should be able to plug it in, stick it to the windshield, turn it on and GO!
And, as I said before, I have the cord electrical taped to the back of the mount, so it can't "loosen" in the port, I don't want to unplug it anymore than needed, no updating, no mileage downloading anymore for this unit.

Let rand know you can run parkways in KY and many other states
My TND avoids them at all costs even if you try to detour it to run them
The ones I'm speaking of are
West KY Parkway
Purchase Parkway ( Jullian Carol )
Blue Grass Parkway
ThanksMark Kling and mrtrdrvr Thank this. -
I think the rest area thing was fairly isolated, it hasn't done it for a while now and actually may have done it prior to my very last update. My ongoing current issue is it won't remember my sound level settings, but it seems to be remembering the odometer readings again.
Today I tried to use it to take me to church at 124 Kittle street ,Ringgold,Ga.
from the truckstops at exit 345 off I-75. I went straight north on us41 and kept going when it intersected with 2 and then the TND said I was in violation and something about overheight. The signs for us41 give you a truck route around that 11' 7" overpass not to mention that I would turn on spur 151 before I got to it anyway. I tried to tell it I weighed 29,200 lbs (empty) and was 13'6" tall and 102" wide and was bobtail but since there was no way to tell it I was bobtail I put in 48' trailer. Anyway I just thought it was strange that it wouldn't even route me there when there are truck route signs on the road. -
Lake Shaste is shown to cover all the roads and towns in the area, Columbia river covers most of north Portland and Vancouver, etc.

Do the new maps have new navigation methods as far as
Parkways - etc
Can you give a brief list of everything a
TND 500 will get with the new update
Thanks in advance -
I may sound dumb but what are
STAA routes ?
And by going to 96' and 48' do you think I may get better routing options as far as more direct truck routing ?
Thanks -
STAA Surface Transportation Assistance Act
The Surface Transportation Assistance Act (STAA) of 1982 allows large trucks to operate on the Interstate and certain primary routes called collectively the National Network.
As to settings for better routes. I had mine set to 96", 48' and 12'8".
Seemed to make no difference in the route. -
Mark Kling Thanks this.
