I second that, well said- Its the right Attitude, its making the Difference, and keeping customer's in focus. Its understanding the good with the bad. Also who are the customer's, dispatch, delivery point, delivery pick-up-basically any one you do a service for is a customer and it is handling the good and the bad together and trying to come out smelling like a rose, that type of driver will be the one that can help the company. And me-I would rather drive 2500 instead of 3000 and make the same any day.

And the shirt issue, not a problem, why not fly your colors if you want to, its part of the total package in projecting the right image, not a dam thing wrong with that.

Give me a choice of a driver that will project a positive image and understand who are the customer's, and try,s to handle everything in a positive light and who even goes to the point of wearing the company colors, or one that may be equal but doesn't understand the focus on the company or customer and doesn't want to wear copy colors, guess which one will will be looked on more favorably for the position or the job.

Is this brown-noising, I do not think so- its one of those things that can be listed in being a professional driver.

    Just my 2 cents

    With all due respect

FalseMirage, The Stump Guy and bluv37 Thank this.

I have read your messages and have to say I like your attitude. I've been looking at CRETE for awhile now

To answer your question I would ask you to talk straight to CRETE.

From what I understand, students are 8 weeks, and experience is 3 weeks.

2 days orientation is $140., and experience with a trainer is 600 a week, not bad, you are required to go to a main terminal for your test ride, and dot physical, also from what I understand that everyone has to go threw a sleep study, even if you need it or not, and that is no charge to the driver, they also will not take an outside study results even if it is done at a hospital.

Do not take my word for it, but find out for your self, give them a call.

    Good afternoon,
Been out a while, 19 days on the RTO 12 fleet. Of course this is about normal.
Miles are good one week, then a reset which makes a fair week, the start a good week but run out of hours and can't get home. All in the name of productivity (for dispatch not the driver).
I have been there 4 years and hopefully will retire in another two. Then I will leave it to you all.
Crete is not the best as they once were, but are still better than most.
You can do really well with Crete as long as you don't care to go home very often. Have a great and safe day.

Training pay is $500 a week before taxes. The sleep study is only a requirement if you are over 33% BMI. The sleep studies are free and done at select terminals. If you have sleep apnea then you have to purchase a CPAP machine but Crete will file it on their insurance and I think it is $900 and can be taken out in installments from your pay. Also you will go to the closest terminal for your pre-quals like DOT physical and work well test. Orientation is 2 days at Lincoln and pay is $140. Lunch is paid for while doing pre-quals or while at the 2 day orientation. Hope I covered some info that people needed. I am in the 8 week training right now and should be wrapping up around 08/11/11.

Heading to the Wilmer terminal tomorrow. Can you give me a brief explanation of what all is done there on your first visit? Backing test? road test? what is work well?

    Thanks!

Durning the few days that you are there, you will do mounds of paperwork, your DOT physical, work well test, Drive test. Then wait around for a truck, go get a truck from somewhere, or wait for your trainer.

The work well test is basically a physical aptitude test. You lift a basket with 25,50, then 75 pounds in it up to some shelves and walk around with it. It's to make sure you can do the physical part of the job.

Anymore questions feel free to ask and I will answer them the best of my ability.

Well hell's bells! 1.75" worth of paperwork:biggrin_25523: some films, written tests sure is mounds of paperwork!

    DOT physical = check
    Work well = check
    driving test = check
Interview with Terminal manager tomorrow then trainer is due in on Thursday. I'm not sure when we leave but it should be Thursday or Friday. Unless he is due for a PM then maybe Tuesday of next week!:biggrin_2559:

Which manager will you interview with? Do you know? Glad everything went well. The first of the training goes by SLOW but after some home time and you come back it goes by pretty fast. I finish up 8/11 can't wait to get my own tractor.
