Full coverage is a waste on an older vehicle unless it's a classic. You won't get squat after your deductible. Let's use the 92 Astro Van as an example. It may be worth $ 1000. After say a $ 500 deductible and the insurance company jerking you around with petty little deductions like rust, etc., you might get $300. Why pay a premium for that?
Uninsured motorist is another waste. If you have PIP and medical on your car, why pay for duplicate coverage? An old car just needs good liability plus whatever your state requires.

It's not YOU or your car you are buying insurance for. That's why every car owned in America is supposed to have it to cover the car you hit!
Unless you have a nice bank balance to be able to pay your mess then you don't need any thing but no fault or one of those price is right companies!
I'll keep my full coverage as if I or the wife screw up then at least it's covered and I'm not writing checks!
It's only smart! If it wasn't a law most morons who cause a wreck, case in point: the moron drunk in NY passing the tractor and hitting the van full of Amish and killing 7 and injuring 7.
I hope he can afford the bill he's going to get even though the Amish don't sue the owner of the van will!
It's insurance for in case Murphy bends you over! To those of us who keep it it's called smart business. -
You obviously don't understand full coverage. Most states REQUIRE liability coverage, to protect the the other driver. Most states require PIP to protect passengers in your car. That is basic coverage. Full coverage means you also add comprehensive, collisions, uninsured motorist, etc. Comp and collision are a waste of money on old crappy cars. The coverage they afford will likely equal your premium in less than six months.CarlLegend Thanks this.

My mom worked for an agent for over 20 years. What Al is explaining here is 100% correct.

So how many classes did it take to get forklift certified?
Did you dream of being a forklift driver when you were 8 years old?
Is it in your blood? Was your father and your grandfather forklift drivers???
Man I just got to know!!!! -

When I worked for John 20 years ago, company driver, I was making about $300 a day hauling tomatoes, grapes, pears, peaches, apples. Pay was 25% of the load, and if we needed a motel, Perez paid it. Grapes pay was depending on the variety, thus the price of the load...I once hauled a load just a few miles to Stockton that paid more then a long run up to Ukiah from Sacramento
. It pays to keep up decent relations with the dispatcher there
