My company did the studies way back in the 60's. We never had a problem running with the lights on during the day until they came out with no switch to turn them off. How do you pull onto a loading rack for gasoline when the rules require you to turn off all electrical gear? They had to do more studies to see if they was a hazard with sealed beamed lights. After that they spec'd the truck to have head lights you can turn off.

I drive with my headlamps on to be seen. Its not a company policy, I just do it. Both of my cars have DRL. If I could hook up the factory DRL in my Columbia, I would.

Next time you're out driving at dawn or dusk, in the rain or in heavy traffic; look at the traffic coming towards you. Which do you pick up first and/or the furthest away, the ones with their headlights on or the schlubs with em off?
Still find it hard to believe the number of so-called truckers driving in low-visibility conditions with nary a light on.
