Well, this thread is an addendum to the FFE New Academy thread started by my buddy, The Playmaker. It has been watched over by him, myself (treyzguy)and Spat. There are times we noticed that there are some bashers out there that will draw people and perspective drivers from a company due to frustrated and sometimes..overly critical people.
From my experience there are the ever present standard complaints:
But, what this thread is for, are for the recent graduates and freshly trainer released drivers. Be they new or experienced, although entering a new era of trucking. Tell me about your trainers, your new(my case..old) truck (eat me Spat) and stories. Tell me about your A-Ha! moments. Your coming to realize moments, and such. Gripes will be allowed, answered honestly and broken apart. There are ways to fix things and talk each other down. There are lots of different types of drivers. We are long haul..either way you look at it. We are a brotherhood of the road. Lets see what FFE has taught us..again

You can play off the ones telling it like it is as bashers. But one purpose of the forum is to give advice form all corners. With you immediately going on the defense means you know it's coming.

What's up with the first 10,000? What is your real motivation for three of you setting up here in the past couple months in the forum? Are we looking for referrals?? How many threads do you need?
A good company hires experienced drivers and treats them well. When companies start hiring and training students means they are strapped for drivers. Add a fleece program and flags fly. And yes there are ever present complaints because there is ever present taking advantage of drivers to make companies more profitable. Many companies have gave up on driver retention and are going the cheapy route.
$455 a week sounds good to a student that hasn't made much. But tell them about working 70 hours or so to get it. That boils down to about $5 an hour. Not even minimum wage. How much do you make a mile treyzguy? I can't find any info on the website because they hide it?
Real drivers have a brotherhood. The majority are steering wheel holders that care about nothing but themselves anymore.
If we are going to be honest, let's be all the way honest. I smell referral or recruiter. Which are you? -
When training on the road, did FFE run you like a team, or were you run like a solo, with the trainee doing the driving, paperwork, trip planning, etc while the trainer taught and observed?

I really thought about becoming trainer due to my back ground as a flight instructor at the airlines. Yes I have 2 1/2 years of trucking but only 6 months recent but don't think I can sleep behind someone with no experience. So me and my girlfriend are going to team up we are slated for a New Cascadia on August 17th.
My only complaint is the operation side of FFE is just like any other trucking company, left hand not telling the right hand what is going on. As for the brotherhood, only the drivers that care about the job they do and care about this industry are truly drivers.
As for the driver saying we get referrals, man I wish since a lot came from my thread. I don't want any money for referrals. I just like to help people and see them succeed.biker dave, lionheart0901 and fancypants Thank this. -
That's cool. Just funny three of you moved in around the same time. I like to see em succeed too.

You know its funny when I started driving in 1996 the drivers out here had a totally different mentality, no it wasn't like it was when my Daddy was driving but better than it is now. To much ego's out here. When your own company driver or drivers won't even acknowledge you or even talk to you at the fuel island that's sad, brotherhood not so much.dloving8915 and I am medicineman Thank this.

Hmm. look at my join date... 2007 I believe. I just took my sweet time and was a creepy lurker for a very long time. Did my research, then took the plunge. I chose ffe after looking at 20-25 other options. I just want to help give the info that I had so much trouble finding myself. Playmaker helped me out and his info was correct. And please dont get the impression that I'm saying FFE is perfect, far from it. I want to quit 2-3 times a day, however I do think its the best starter company.
I will plug way for the next 50 weeks 4 days and 3 hours. At that time I will look at my options, jump ship or take on another role or route with ffe.
Treyzguy, How do you get rid of that new truck smell? its diving me nuts. -
All i care about is how many miles are you getting each week and what is the scheduling like----reasonable or insane?
Thank you. -
CC - You say it like it is!!! I like to read it when people just come out and tell it like it is. (respectfully) -
I got my truck and headed out last tues, I pulled 2300 and 5 stops in 6 days. That is mostly due to my DM being on vacation and the guy watching his board is a LTL dm. Also they were small runs working my way home. Now when was with my trainers we were running hard, 3600 miles the first few weeks and then 6k+ as teams.
They will run you if you want!!!!!!!! I can give a more detailed report in a few weeks. Playmaker, and Treyzguy can give a more accurate report.
Hey playmaker, what payroll issues do I need to keep my eye out for?
