We have sold a lot of these in the last year and the feedback has been pretty darn good all around (reliability, fuel economy, etc). Rather than reinvent the wheel, Peterbilt took a lot of feedback from drivers, owners, and dealers to make small refinements. The 587 is more evolutionary than revolutionary which to me is good for two reasons: 1. After 10 solid years of production most of the bugs that come with any design were resolved, and 2. When you are in the middle of nowhere and need a part, there's a good chance a dealer will have a part they have been stocking for 10 years rather than a part for a 'brand new' truck.
Just my two cents. -
i have noticed that alot of them have much less wood....i personally love the all wood dash...can i still get it like the 387...most are all black???
-
Just got my new one. With the PACCAR engine.
Lower hood an dash helped front sight some. Still adjusting to new controls like wipers on column, flashers on dash, dang hood catch( really gonna campaign to get that removed before I spring my hood forgetting about it).
Same ride as my old '08 387.
Hope the engine breaks in well. Right now feels weaker than my old cummings but I'll withhold judgement for now.
Trying the climacab electric APU on this one. It works off a seperate set of AGM batteries. So far I like it well enough. Little odd with the noise at start up but kept truck cool in Memphis yesterday and last night in Pendleton(about 2 hours unloading in Memphis about 105 deg).
Really odd with the lane control, and now a talking Qcom -
Luv the look, do the doors seal better than 387/T2 and when in the hell are they going to make a 75" MIDROOF???
Thanks Stan -
Could have sworn I saw a midroof over in Denton last month(?) -
Hey Tazz, yeah I have seen the 587 midroof but it is ONLY a 52" sleeper. my driver's would shoot me coming out of T2 75" aerocabs.
The condos are fine for most but we do a lot of residential delivery and it is a pain in the ### with the trees sometimes, I had to remove the sleeper air wing on all of my T2's.
I pull a flatbed so I'm not trying to get air over a box. -
10-4 Honestly didn't look at length just remember the midroof.
Hell if you'll buy it they'll make it (eventually) -
Anybody ever have grinding noise by your clutch when engaged?
