What is the oldest truck you guys would own/drive?

    You need to put some time in a butterfly hood steel fender R model Thermodyne with a spring driver seat and no A/C or power steering. :biggrin_2553:

    Heck that LUXURY compared to some old B models , seats were not SPRING anything .

    I think you meant B model, as the R all had one piece fiberglass hoods.

    No there were R MODELS with the STEEL BUTTERFLY hoods.

    1955 Kenworth conv. 220 cummins 5x4 tranny.Butterfly hood no door locks I could go on an on.

    that depends on a lot of things....I have seen old trucks in better shape then some "new" ones .

    I would probably go with a good older unit for gravel work.

    Thanks Flatbed for straighting me out on that, after seeing the green one in the picture I remembered seeing those up on the east coast as dumps and concrete trucks as the article said, just always thought it had another nomenclature. I'm old but never to old to learn or apoligize when I'm wrong, sorry for my first post.

    Like you I recall them more on construction jobs dumps / mixers , floats , than as highway tractors.
