I was with a company for 14 months, and they terminated me. They said I had to many tickets, but they knew that when they hired me. I got a speeding ticket(20 miles over) while working for this company. Six months later they fired me..lol. I havent driven since Jan 09. Major trucking compaines wouldn't touch me, cuz i was terminated. I had a long lay off from driving, and i want to start again. What shall i do to get back into trucking after sitting so long?
What to do?

First question is,is when did you got the ticket? My second question is,which company was this?
So you got your self 2 tickets within 14 months?
To answer your question,if they the tickets are within last 3-5 years,no most mega carriers wouldn't tough you.Not trying sound like a jerk but holding a CDL-A licence you gott'a be more responsible than that.

CR England.
I only got one ticket in my 14 months with them. They waited 6 months to get rid of me. I was on a dedicated route for DHL, and when DLH closed their doors, England gave me the boot! The speeding ticket comes off this month. It will be three years old. You right! I must be more responsible!

I guess no one got no advice for me.
I thought this was the best trucking blog in town

wait for the ticket to clear get a copy of your mvr. you may need to take a refresher course. i would talk to cre and see if they would rehire you. never know

Sounds to me like with the DHL contract ending they used the ticket against you, they'll most likely justify this in relation to their CSA score. What gets me is why with a company like England, as large as they are, would they not offer you a position elsewhere? All of the horror stories we hear on here about England, you would think they would do everything in their power to keep an employee like yourself who has stayed with them for 14 months. Sounds to me if you can put up the bs you've probably dealt with over there for the last year then you should be a good fit for any company, you must not get pissed off about much and go with the flow, now the concern is finding someone who will hire you with the ticket. That's where others step in, I don't know enough about OTR companies to steer you in the right direction.

Most insurance companies consider 20 over a major traffic offense and won't insure you, thus the companies won't hire you. Also if you get a 20 over while employed they will probably let you go for the same insurance reason. Sometimes it takes a while before the insurance company notifies the company that you are not insurable. You may be able to take a refresher course, not real sure how it works.

It might have been that their insurance was due to be renewed at that time as well. And the insurance company pulled your DMV saw the ticket, and it caused a rate increase. All though I can't see a rate increase for just 1 drivers ticket in a major company like that. So there may have been multiple drivers with tickets, and it was just cheaper to replace the drivers then to take the rate increase.
Guess KJ4 beat me too it.Last edited: Aug 6, 2011

CR England is a joke, did they make you do the lease program?
-
Could be the case but they knew he had a ticket, the second ticket was the icy on the cake. These companies that force the lead program crap does this all the time.I have read treads of this happening to other drivers too.
