I run mobile on CB I do have a limited base Right now there is little skip or long distance signals so not much to lissen too ... -
I guess it depends on where you're at but here in Missouri skip has been rolling off and on lately. You'll know when skip is rolling because the channels will be real noisy and you'll hear people all over.
Sometimes you can talk back to them, sometimes not. It all depends but it's hit or miss during skip. Except maybe channel 6, which is where the big dogs with the 10k + watts of power play. You better be packing as much as they are if you want to stand a chance to talk back.
Channel 9 is/was the emergency channel but it's seldom monitored anymore. Not much of a chance you'll hear anyone there.
Channel 19 is the highway communications channel. Go near an interstate you outta hear someone there. If not there then hit up the nearest truck stop. Someone's bound to have their radio on.WA4GCH Thanks this. -
Now why would I feel the need to talk to some local yokel?
