I have a friend that was looking for a mic and I recommended the RK56. Long story short, He bought one and had to replace it 2 month's later, the replacement lasted him 2 DAY"S !!! I've heard that Barjunk bought out telex, is this true and did they pinch on the quality or what is the real problem with the newer RK56's ? And WHEN if the quality is different did this take change ? I've had one for over 27 year's and only replaced the cord and the switch(spring broke) in all that time.

The quality has went down for the last several years. If you can buy an original RK56 it will last forever.

I have one that is from 2006 and it is still good. The switch is going out because I key it up sometimes and it just keys the radio but no audio goes through and out.

I found a Shure noise cancelling mic and had it modified (probably an FCC violation:biggrin_2559:) with RK guts. Works real good. I can talk with the window down and FM cranked and the mic cancels out the noise......totally quite on the other end except for my voice! It wasn't cheap however.

:biggrin_2556: You did WHAT to that mike :biggrin_2556:

Send me how to do it myself ......

All kidding aside the rubber on mike cords is so poor today it falls apart after a few years .....
