So I was going to Jacksonville tonight and i was going through Greencove springs. It was pouring rain, I was coming up on a red light, Speed limit was 45, I was doing 35. It turned yellow when I was getting close, I hit the brakes and nothing. I slammed on my brakes and i started to slow down. I felt my tires skidding. the light was still yellow and i stopped underneath it, it was red as soon as I was under it. I was in the middle of the intersection so i just started driving again since i couldnt back up. I didnt see the traffic camera flash. It was dark and Ive seen them work before. Im thinking It didnt take my Picture, but Im afraid, what if it did. Anyway, I have a class e license but since im going to school in September I have my CDL Class A "PERMIT". I know with a CDL someone told me you cant go to traffic school for a ticket. My question is, what if you have a permit? Can I still take the school IF i did get a ticket and get the ticket off my record. I havent had a ticket in 4 years. Id like to keep it that way.

I hear ya. Im sure they have special rules for Tractor Trailers since you can't stop on a dime.

If I do get a ticket ill just do what I have to to get it taken care of and taken off my record if possible.

Im not sure about FL, but here in TN they can only give you a non-point civil fine for a red light cam. (like a parking fine) The only way you can get a true traffic offence/fine is with a police office as a witness in real time. I have heard that these red light cams are a real revenue generator for some communities.

trucks dont usually get them because all it shows is the roof of the trailer....no way to identify them

I work for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. We have one traffic camera in Palatka lol. I talked to a Greencove Springs PD officer awhile back. He said the first 6 months they had the cameras installed they had over $750,000 worth of tickets sent out. They said about half the tickets were over turned though lol

Ive seen them work and they flash no matter what time of day or weather. Mine didnt flash, so I'm crossing my fingers

There are 4 or 5 huge companies that own the red light cameras accross the US. They review the video and send you the fine in the mail, they also provide a link to the video showing the violation. You send in the fine, they keep their part and the balance goes to your community. Each community sets the stardards of time and postion in the intersection of the flash.

I'm sure your fine either way as I doubt the viloaation would show up on your driving record......that can only happen if you have a states witness, called a police office issuing the ticket verifing your ID. They will just send a civil fine to who ever the car is registered to.

I never thought about that, anyone could have been driving my car. So if it stays off my record then that would be a blessing. Ill just pay whatever fine if I do receive one. thanks for all the advice guys!
