Sitting here in Plainwell MI beef plant. 1st time here. There is a detour getting in that is well marked with JBS signs. When you come in switch to channel 40 and go right onto the scale on the left. No need to get out just give your load number over the CB. It is amazing how much better a place can be with paved lots! No dust, no mud. They have a cafeteria you are welcome at. Wish all the Swift plants were like the Packerland facilities. Picking up a 5 stopper, 1 to Atlanta and 4 to Miami. I can just imagine how tight these little places are going to be. Any tips on getting around Miami or if any of you FL guys want to switch would be appreciated! Nice and cool up here today. Drive careful.

As far as getting around in Miami, lots of toll roads that don't take EZ Pass, but they do toll by plate so its no big deal. Not very many truck stops so try to save some driving time to get back out of there after you unload! They all charge for parking too!The Challenger and MileHiBud Thank this. -
Talked to Julie on friday and she said I was approved and scheduled for orientation on August 29th. JBS was my 1st choice after school and I think I made the right decision from what I have been reading. A couple of questions if I can.
1. She said that they hardly ever run the northeast.
2. I live in Maryland - Much freight in my area?
3. I want to take my wife with me and she said that would be no problem
I have a son that lives in S. Dakota and hope to have a chance to get
loads near him to visit. With my wife with me I can stay out on the
road longer and do resets or time off near him. - Any problem seen?
4. What type of equipment do you run?
5. Training done as solo or team? / Total 8 Weeks?
6. Load and unload your trucks?
7. Idle policy? / Do I need my own CB?
Any Info on orientation or training would be greatly appreciated. I am really looking forward to starting my career with JBS. I thought
about Roehl for awhile but my instincts tell me to go with my first choice.
Hope to see some of you on the road. -
1 We do some NE loads, but I have never been there.
2 Maryland shouldnt be a problem.
3 If you request hometime in SD shouldnt be a problem.
4 2012 KW's and 2010 Petes
5 Mostly solo, maybe the last 2 weeks as a team.
6 Pay the Lumper.
7 Idle all ya need to be comfy / Yes -
Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to this change I am making. Sounds like you guys really like what you are doing. The company sounds like it is growing and will be a good home for me. Hope to meet some of you when I get out on the road.

Oops, yea Plainwell. Darn kid, screwed up again...

It depends on where your going in Miami. Pay your tolls on the turnpike as only E-Pass and Sunpass work. Heres a calculator to help you out.

As for parking; it is worth the bobtail to one of the Ft. Pierce Pilots if you can. If not, call ahead to your final and see if one can park there for your 10. I am hoping some members who live in Miami can chime in on good places.
KHMileHiBud Thanks this.
