-
i believe wil-trans is a lease operator job do a search in the dac reports -
Stay the HELLO away from Trans AM! It is NOT a lease but a rental! If you do and just manage to get a company truck then have your laptop and a scanner printer because the ungodly amount of paper work that seems to crawl out of trip packs is beyond belief. Scan every piece of paper that you spent money on like scale tickets Tolls, headlights or anything else TA should be paying for and when you get your pay stub check every thing off and if it's not there then call get some idiot in payroll on the phone and do NOT ask but TELL them that such and such a receipt is not on the pay and tell them to tell you where it is. They will ALWAYS come out with the Bull crapola excuse that it was not in the trip pack! No kidding even if you video you putting each receipt in the pack it will crawl out and commit suicide! BUT you have the copy and ask for a email and NOT a fax! They CAN take emails. They try to tell you they don't but I made them take mine back in 03!I did not fall for BS excuses from idiots in the office who think that 1 excuse was a cover all!
Lets put it like this. They think drivers are idiots. Yes they do1 I had the head of Payroll tell me the trip pack didn't come in. I had to that point been using Trip pack for over 10 years and NEVER had one not show up! I walked around the cornet to safty and asked about my logs and what a miracle! They made it in but the paper work worth money didn't! I went back to payroll and looked that dumb blond in the eye and told her if she could not come up with the paper work I would go out to the truck and make copies for her because for some reason the logs that were in the same envelope were in safety and she needs to come up with a better excuse as to why I didn't get paid!
To be blunt I even sent ole Johnny and his Boy Toy Rob a registered letter about how not getting paid was like working for free and that if a trip pack was opened and for some reason something on the trip sheet wasn't in the envelope just send me a message and it would be emailed within 30 minutes !
Idiots still tried the it wasn't in the pack!
I did the go home cleaned the truck out send a early termination letter and took their POS truck in 2 weeks later! zI took pictures as they were inspecting the truck so I didn't get any abandonment because I heard the shop call the office and tell them I was taking pictures.
Anyway let TA waste their 800 charges calling you but if you go to them you don't listen or learn very well! TA is a rip off from the ground up! But if you want a good laugh then gao ahead and sit through the 30 person + orientation and wait for Johnny to come in and brag about the lame TA tatt he has! -
That's gonna be a tall order, especially for a rookie. Most OTR companies want you out at least 3 weeks. Then they are kind enough to give you a whole 3 days off.

I agree with AL, I have only worked for one carrier, but I did alot of research before jumping in. You will be able to find those kinds of jobs after 12-18 months with a good record, but as a student it aint going happen. Everyone has a different set of values, if these things are important........stay away from going any further in this industry. I have a friend at a company working 2 weeks and 1 week off.....last year he made a less then $30k and he has over 2 years in the seat. The company has offered him other jobs where he could double his income, but that will require him to be on the road 3 weeks with 3 days off during the week. This is a tough industry.
-
THe industry is not tough you just have to do your due dilligence and find the best fit for YOU! Try looking for a dedicated account to get on. You may have to unload freight but at least you might get home more often.
flyingmusician Thanks this. -
actually, it IS possible if you do your homework and don't seek out the well-known mega bottom feeders you're looking at.
i was a student, with a good background and good record, and i got into a brand new truck and home every weekend and making decent money right out of the gate.
they're out there. but they don't advertise. there's a REASON the mega bottom feeders advertise everywhere.....and a reason the good companies don't. you have to find them, they don't go looking for you like the bottom feeders do.
go with weiner or trans am and you deserve what you get and don't come back here whining about it. there's TOO much information on both in this forum. and yet people STILL flock to them.
dig deep, look and see what's around locally, be patient and don't jump at the first 3 or 4 bottom feeders that will have you.....or else you'll be like sooooo many others on here who come back complaining about how bad the company is......when everyone already has posted horror stories on here warning them. but yet they still go.
what you seek is out there if you look hard enough and have a good enough record.diesel_weasel Thanks this. -
yOU WANT TO JUST STAY OUT 2 WEEKS ,ARE YOU JOKING?
Most large companies, could care less about your hone time, you appoinments to doctors, court, etc.Bigarmin88 Thanks this. -
