Was that your Drivers License or CDL? I'm moved several times over the years and I just get my DL renewed each time, always handing in my prior license. I never realized that a license could still be active.

    Thanks

    Unfortunately, it is either type.

I'm guessing that you just call the DOT from the prior state and get them to send you some sort of statement?

I'll get that done tomorrow if its that simple..... :biggrin_2554:

I had a DL from Ohio. Anyone know whats the easy way to have them verify that you turned it in?

    Great News,
I called the IN DMV and she told me my license was surrendered. For the asking, she also looked up my driving record and said it was clean (from 9 years ago). She told me to get the FORM 53789, available from their web site and send it in for the official copy.
I’m trying to be as proactive as I can so that I don’t get sent home for some silly reason J So far, I have:
    1. Clean Driving record 20+ yrs. (have record for KY, getting IN)
    2. Work History for 10 years, last 8 with same company (Laid off – eligible for rehire)
    3. No criminal record
    4. No drug history
    5. SS card, birth certificate, passport, TWIC ID, GED transcript
    6. Hearing test (getting aid – some high freq loss)
    7. Sleep Study (scheduled in two weeks) BMI=26 not obese, just being careful:biggrin_25518:
    8. Eye Exam (20/15 corrected vision):biggrin_2558:
    9. DD-214 (Navy 84 – 87) Copy, do I need an official document from so long ago? I can order one on the internet, if needed.
    10. Studying for my permit using e-gears, for now (base with TNH endorsements). Going to school once my sleep study is complete.
    11. Walk 3 mi./day and duck walking a few times a week .lol
I figured I would get some good use out of my Cobra insurance since I’ve got the time. Can anyone think of anything else I may need to get together?
Also, something I’ve seen asked in the forum, but not specifically with USX is the question about tools. Do USX drivers need to put together a toolbox, or is that provided to some degree?
Thanks for any and all help, this forum has been a great resource for getting started in the industry and your contributions invaluable.

Tools are not provided.......but I have a small selection of basic ones......my most important one is the vise grips which I use to hold my tandem stick out when it won't stay in the slot (learned that trick here on the board).

some of the truckstops hav a springload tool that you hook on the outside of the trailer and on the tandem slide handel (holld on the handel) you rock the trailer and it will pull it out for you. and i have seen a few truckstops that have a pin set (two big brass pins the size of the slid holes), you just set one in each side where you want it to stop and then slid it tull you bump them, flip the handle and pull out the brass pin stop's, we don't need then becauce we are a team (i do the durty work and she drives) but for a solo they are great....

When it comes to tools, very basic is all you need. Breakdown woud really rather you not try to work on a $120,000 truck that is under warranty

Here's some of the items I've found in my research:
    STA-RAT http://www.sta-rat.com/product.php (similar to above)
    Shipping Containers http://www.shippingcontainertool.com/index.html
    Trucker's Friend http://www.innovationfactory.com/
    Gladhand Emer. Air http://www.globaltrucker.com/produc..._Inflator_Kit_w_Straight_Chuck-16478-133.html

    Starter (JNC1224) http://www.asedeals.com/jumpstarters2.html
Do you have to Grease? http://www.acetoolonline.com/Milwaukee-2446-21XC-M12-Li-Ion-Cordless-Grease-Gun-p/mil-2446-21xc.htm

Let me know what you think.... would any of these be useful/needed with USX? Some companies seem to like drivers that can perform minor maintenance (lights, wiring, adjustments, etc.) that keep to freight moving while others prefer hands-off. If USX doesn't like you to perform any maintenance, what is the expected turnaround time for minor repairs?

    Thanks guys!
