yup its gonna happen this week. I got tired of doing just the outbound shift for 2 hours so when they call me i never answered or showed up. I was told friday that i need to say whether ill b in or not, so today they tried doing it to me, and i told the main boss its not worth my time to work 2-3 hours when i can work either one of my jobs and at least get 8 hours in. He wanted nothing to do with it, told me b there no later than 530, and wut do i do? i dont go, and im not calling tomorrow morning either. they r only having me go in late now cu they dont wanna pay overtime to n e one and wanna use the lower guys as cheap laborers so they can make more profit for themselves, but meanwhile they give away overtime like theres no tomorrow to eveyone... makes sense to n e one, i dont think so

Now for anyone whos new and wants to work for CWF. I am not discouraging u at all. Every terminal is different, mines jus corupt. If u wanna deal with the whole flex board thing or the 2-3 hour cheap labor work days then awesome, i jus cant do it, ive gone broke almost going bankrupt(thankfully my dad was cool to help me with everything i needed). like i said if they let me work my other jobs and not FORCE me to work that 2-3 crap then id b fine, ive even been threatened to get in now or dont come back at all. so tomorrow or this week im its probly gonna happen that im fired or i might jus go in friday morning, dump off my uniforms id tags and every company thing issued to me

well i didnt no i get employed full time again right away so i was gonna try to collect unemployment but wont have to worry bout that, i texted my personel supervisor that im not coming back since hes been texting me all day with me ignoring him. normal ppl usually sleep at this time, but i said for personal reasons, if they ask me im jus gonna say its not ur business, ive said that before when i needed a day off for an emergency, they kept askin me a bunch of questions and i jus said, u no wut, thats none of ur concern, and u cannot ask me that if i refuse to answe.

all in all, the company went real downhill for me once they practically screwed me over is when i started acting the way i have been. if they never did that id still b tryin to stay but i cant deal with it n e more, while as an apprentice i was treated like gold, always encouraged etc, but as soon as i was a driver i was treated like a huge POS, and with the whole flex board it made me lose a ton of money

you know you're not going to actually get unemployment right? Refusing to report for work will result in your getting fired for cause. They've been contacting for days asking you to come in and you refuse, not the best way to handle this. Hope others can learn from this.

Looks to me like the company is freezing you out anyway. Couldn't have anything to do with the attitude I'm seeing here, could it?

o i figured that out on my own about unemployment but i wont b needing it n e ways, and they did something rele dirty to me there so thats wen i started acting the way i did, before that i was always loyal to the company, went in everyday and gave 300% work for my apprentice program, i even graduated on the top of the class. They were ready to give us all permanant start times if the senoir guys couldnt get it down on the dock.

What they did that pissed me off, i requested a specific day off, i needed it off for family issues and problems and had to do wut i had to do(not mentioning wut happened on here, dont need ppl noing my personal stuff) they originally granted it to me without a prob, few hours later i get a text from the personal supervisor telling me hes revoking my day off cuz he needs me to work, now on flex u r NOT guaranteed work. I even said theres one person off and they didnt wanna listen, so it was fine that if i got to work the entire night i didnt need to go do wut i had to do. So that morning i call in they said we got nothing, then at 1pm they tell me come in for outbound at 5, so i ask am i going on linehaul after and they said no jus outbound, i replied sayin listen i asked for this day off, u revoked it, since its only an outbound shift can i pls jus have the day i asked for off, the refused of course and told me to get my @#$$%##@ @#$ down there and dont b late, then they call again sayin come at 330, go in and at 5 they threw me out cuz they had too many ppl come back early and they needed to get their 8 hours in.

thats wut started everything, theres a lot more that went on, im one of 4 guys who r quitting

I'll answer this for him - the answer is no.. It doesn't work that way at a seniority based company. I've been in his shoes before and it sucks. So no, it couldn't..

good to c u back jakebrake lol, no my terminal is rele bad, and our neighboring one is worse, they had about 6 regular guys quit in a week, since they were turning u around to base after u reached ur 7th hour whether u were finished or not. My old boss at my terminal is soo cheap and wants a few of us as like the part-time dock guys to wrok the outbound so he dont have to pay overtime, but that ruins my whole day tho since they want me to sit around all day waiting for them to call me, i even told them "sry i do have a life u no"

but i would like to give u thx jakebrake for all the info uve given me throughout my time in the company, looks like i wont b running into u next yr wen ur back on linehaul

Had a chance to talk with a Conway LTL 10 year veteran last week and brought up ACH1130's issue to get his opinion. He agreed 100% saying "flex" employees really get dumped on... but to what degree differs among terminals and who manages them. Sure doesn't sound like fun finding out at 4am every morning if you work or not that day. That's definitely not a job I would want :biggrin_25513:

yes u r correct, some terminals treat their flex guys good or bad, mine happens to b bad. Ive talked to other drivers who r veterans as well when i did linehaul and they all said how their flex guys were.

4am they tell u at? my terminal is 6am they let u no. I couldnt do it cuz sometimes they said we will call u back and then at 9 theyd say b in at 10, but other times i wouldnt get called till 4pm so i couldnt even work a second job like they told me i should.

I am not dissing or trying to discourage n e one from working at CWF if u have been thining about it. My termiinal was just so messed up, other places are better, youd just have to be lucky enough to get a good place. Carlstadt NJ ive heard they treat their drivers well, friend of mine spoke to some guys there to find out info and they r happy.
