It's been slow for a week around here. It's not unexpected since harvest is getting closer. The dryland corn is burnt up hopefully there will be some beans and milo to haul.

Been thinking about going out further but the rates aren't very good on that front. If I had a high side might think about DDG or meal but I don't. Just a waiting game until fall harvest starts.

The Texas trucks are probably coming up here because their crops were really bad. What I hear the OK crops aren't much better. I will remain optimistic and think I will have much to haul during harvest and the winter.

On another note been seeing a lot of MTI trucks up here and Head trucks

I'm not sure about the grains, but I've been checking on the cotton crop in Texas trying to decide whether to book some cottonseed products now or wait until we get further into harvest. It looks to me like 50-60% of the Texas cotton crop is classified as "abandoned."

WH, I think Sun Valley loads MTI trucks and Heads they are just plain bad news. Out of all their drivers I think they have one decent one. Hope you fine some work.

I have seen a lot of hoppers being parked and belly dumps being purchased to haul in the oil fields. Today I show up at the quarry a little late and their has to be well over 100 trucks there to load. Seen trucks from Arizona, Las Vegas, Nevada and south Texas (mostly Mexicans) up here hauling. What did I get myself into, from what I have been told they have been hired by one oild field construction outfit that is known for paying low rates and I guess their is no work in those areas. Their were four of us that went together and we are hooked up with a reputable company that has lots of work so I hope it last for awhile. The down side Oklahoma roads were ruff pulling a hopper around know I run some dirt roads and poor maintained black tops and it is hell on equipment plus hell on my body since I have a non air ride trailer. I never thought I would see the day I would run 600 plus miles a day and be home every night. May have to go back OTR to get some sleep. Well it is to bed early, working tomorrow and up and leaving the house at 4am.

A farmer friend of mine over by Stillwater, OK told me today that his beans are totally gone. Done had the insurance guy out and no crop this year. I was planning on hauling his beans to the port this year but that is down the drain.

If you see a truck just like mine, paint and everything pulling a hopper in your area it is not me. lol. I seen a guy with a identical truck as mine this week pulling a Cornhusker hopper leased to Charles Holmes.

Been there before, not sure whether to laugh or cry. :biggrin_25513: Got your grease gun with you, sounds like you've still got time to get the truck and trailer greased?

Wow, Big John, 100 trucks waiting at a quarry must've been something to see. With the few little quarries I ever haul out of here, 10 trucks is extremely crowded. The oil biz must be booming now. Good luck with it.

We still can't beg, borrow or steal a rain. Looked at the radar about midnight last night and would've bet we would get a nice rain, but this morning, the dust wasn't even settled. :biggrin_25512:

The leg in our fertilizer plant broke down my first year there so we were sending out fertilizer through two six inch grain augers out the sides (no blends of course). Didn't take that long to fill a hopper bottom though...about a half hour or so...as opposed to about 7 minutes when the fertilizer plant was actually working...haha
