Just a heads up, with any of the laptop based logs you need to have your last seven in hand, signed, ON PAPER. Also you need to be able to print the current day. http://www.driversdailylog.com has all the interpretations and other legal info.

The last two times I was inspected (Ohio and KY), they never even asked to see the logs...just verified that I was indeed on e-logs and went on without looking at them.

The only one I've actually had pull up the graph was last winter in NY, and he just glanced at it and added that he "liked seeing a number of shorter lines", a reference to the absence of logging, say, a straight 10 or 11 hours driving, followed by a break. Going off-duty for even 15 minutes here and there, along with any on-duty not-driving time served the purpose, and is the way I generally operate anyway.

Saw some really stupid things the last few days. Put a guy out of service the other day for a brake issue. MAde it clear what had to be done. Sure enough he jumps the OOS order, he wondered why he was arrested. :biggrin_2554:

Got another that jumped a OOS order from another State on 10 OOS violations. The look on his face when I printed the earlier inspection out and handed it to him and asked why he hadn't fixed his defects? :biggrin_25524:
Then asked me, "Is this going to mess me up with this CSA thingy." :biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521:

Hey DB? How do you know whom to pull over? Or do you get to sit at a scale house and run the plates as they come through?

I'm out on the Interstates. Just happen to have my attention brought to them on way or the other. One fella was speeding, the other fella had a bunch of lights out and tires that sounded like they were keeping a beat of a drum (Flat spots are steel belts exposed).

I thought having a head lite out when pulling thru the scale would get you some "up close and personal" attention. Last week going eastbound on I70 at the scale west of Topeka, KS the truck behind me had a lite out and he did take a little longer then usual on the scale, but about 10 minutes later he came flying by me.
