As far as the pay goes here is what I know so far. For drivers with no experience starts at .28 with experience usually .30. They take out a per diem for your taxes so yes you have to file as independent. As far as dressing professional it does help in getting things you need. Money for the road depends on your trainer. You should have an opportunity to call them before hand. Ask them if they have a fridge or a cooler and can you use it. Food will be cheaper then. Heading out for WI now will post pics of truck at next break.

Mine is a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia but the Volvos and Prostars are the norm.

that's awesome nice to hear that you got such a nice truck. I have no prob getting any three of those trucks cause i like them all. Each has there pro's and cons but all are nice and maneuverable and i will be stoked to have any of them, so that is great news and nice to hear. As for pay with experienced drivers it goes on verifiable tractor/ trailer exp and their pay is a little lower than others but seems to be made up by the quality of the company and miles so i am content. I was just saying i want credit for all my tractor trailer exp so i get the .305 cpm instead of .30 cpm. I shouldnt have a problem with them being able to verify it so i'm not to worried about it. Thanks again for the response and stay safe and happy out there.

sounds pretty normal i am not training there yet but that is pretty standard. Actually that is a little better than normal because some companies wont even reimburse you the bus ticket price if u choose to fly instead of take the bus. I looked and i think the bus is around $190 or so so you should get around that price. As for waiting till your on the truck that is to make sure u got thru the training and that u are an employee before they go ahead and reimburse the cost. Hope that makes sense. I can't answer the other part of your question but i am rather curious to the answer myself, so i will keep checking in for an answer:biggrin_2559:

would make sense if the bus cost was on the student as well. If the company is paying the bus ticket up front, why make the student wait till hired to be reimbursed for the plane ticket. Not that it matters much, my choice to fly is due to see my duaghter who lives in Wyoming for 2-3 days before starting class. So the money up front will be worth it.

I think because they deal with greyhound a lot they get special discounts for them transporting centrals students across the country to their training locations. As far as why taking so long to repay for it I do not know why. Guess its got something to do with how they pay greyhound. They might have a charge account and pay at end of month or each quarter.

Yeah it has been a few years since we left Central. So they are getting back into the freightliners I guess. That was a big to do when we were there. They must have made amends with Freightliner!

Who knows man, maybe they will pay your whole ticket if they like you! Even if they didn't pay a dime I would still fly! There is just no way I could ride a bus from GA to UT! I would jump out the window before we made it out of Atlanta!

Im excited for you guys! I think you will be pretty impressed when you get to Salt Lake! Make sure to ask to see the "War Room". Not sure about the Ramada vs. staying at the terminal. At least they aren't making you stay at that Econo Lodge anymore. Little rough on that side of town. Gangster Mormons! I would prefer staying at the terminal cause you can hang out with all the other drivers and shoot the bull! You could also use that time to find a trainer. Trainers are coming in and out of the terminal all the time so you could maybe find some time to talk to some and get to know them. It's a little better going out with someone you get to know ahead of time to see whether you will mesh well together. Plus you can ask to see their truck. If its a wreck and nasty you will know ahead of time to not go with them.

CHOMPI: LMFAO gangster mormons!! hilarious stuff bro i needed that laugh. I totally agree with you on meeting up with some trainers and getting to know them. The worst thing you can get is a messy slob for a trainer i actually dont think i could leave SLC if a guy's truck was to much of a mess. i also don't find it ridiculous to ask that we shower at least once every 48 hrs. You been out OTR before so you know that isnt to much to ask. Man i wish i could fly but got a new little one on the way and actually having to buy a new car this week so gonna be using up that plane ticket cash but i will just have to make do but it will SUCK majorly. Thank god for ipods :biggrin_2559: ( totally off subject real quik but saw ur pics and i was so jealous of the surf pics i haven't been in the water since i had to leave sweet home SD :biggrin_25513: in fact last time i went surfing i got stung by a sting ray, god i miss the ocean air... but i digress LOL) anyways i am really excited and hope i find a good trainer while we are in SLC and we can hook up and get along for those LONG 5 wks. I also just want a decent room, don't care where it is.

RoBNGRaves: I think you are right about greyhound. I am almost positve they have an account with greyhound.. most big companies DO and that they get special rates and probably pay monthly or quarterly.

llloXolll: that's awesome if you can fly and you get to see your daughter i am so envious cause 2 days on greyhound will be an eternity. Hope you have a great flight and visit and maybe we will run into each other down the road. I will be in SLC in about 2 1/2 wks

Yesterday was a rough start. Had to wait on another driver to arrive with trailer for my load. He finally got in 7 hrs late. Then coming into the yard the trailer got red taged and had to go in the shop for 3 hours. But I finally got out on the road and made it to Cheyenne. Will still make it to shipper on time but will mess up my HOS for next load.

Any way while I was waiting I made a video for ya'll so you could see what the truck looks like to give you an idea of the equipment for Central. Sorry about the quality first time using cam phone for video. Pay no attention to my mis stating that it's and International, it's a Frieghtliner. So let's see if this works.
