I've been lurking the forum for about a month, going to Springfield on 9/13.. Is anyone else starting that week?
I have opted for a $225 airplane ride from Manchester, NH than riding +-48 hours on a bus.
Starting training on 9/13 with Prime

Started a LONG time ago with Prime, but welcome to the team. Are you brand new? Not got a CDL yet? We have the best training in the industry, period. And it sounds like they won't have trouble getting you to run New England! You will be a jewel to your dispatcher! Hope you make it! Keep us posted.

Thanks for the welcome Kingsson. I've been working with Sheryl, a recruiter and she's been great! I've been "notated" that I'll be working refer in the North East/East Coast once I'm on my own. Hopefully I make it!
I am brand new to it. Although my Dad was a OTR O/O years ago, and more recently he drove locally for some union shops until he retired (luckly man!).
I'm a Ham and I have a few Ham friends that also drive for other companies. Apprently one of them knows a Prime driver that is also a Ham and does training. I'm waiting on finding some contact info for him. Anyone else on here a Ham? -
Im a turkey....
Welcome! I would advice getting your permit before you leave if possible. If not, download the MOCDL booklet and take practice tests online. You only get one night to study for the permit test. Keep us updated on how things go!

I second what ORD said - it makes your life that much easier if you come in with your CDL permit. The training is good - just listen to your trainer and ask questions.

I'll be attending Prime the week of Sept. 19. Just a little behind ya. Wish you the best. I'm also a rookie. No experience at all but I'm full of enthusiasm and ready to learn all that I can. Prime really caught my eye with the one on one training program rather than sitting through a class for weeks. Good luck on everything! Hope to see ya/meet ya on the road soon!

Listen to your instructor! My instructor's last student got sent home because he refused to listen to anyone. His ####y attitude got him fired before he was even hired. I tried to help him, Cagetrucker tried to help him... He just wouldnt listen. Wanted to do things his way, which didnt work at all.

Don't raise your hand too high, or there will be a Pete386 with your name on it, running WalMart routes out of Lewiston, ME! Some guys like it... I did one and hated it. Even though I am originally from Portsmouth/Rochester, NH, New England is someplace I get into and out of as quickly as possible... at least in a truck! If I want to go moose touring, I prefer to do that in a car!
phillip65942 Thanks this. -
All the more for me.... one of my best paying weeks was a week's worth of one/two day hops into/out of New England.... I'll take all the NE they'll give me for the kind of rates I was getting.

Good luck and maybe see you on site, but I hear they get you on the road quick. Roll safe!
