You forgot to mention the low power lines and bridges, and weight limits. Try the GW bridge sometime. It is clogged all day and all night.
chompi Thanks this. -
I feel your pqin. My first week out was great. Then I have had 3 checks since that have been really bad. The economy stinks and people aren't buying so we aren't shipping.

I don't know what an APU is but I know what a power inverter is. Please tell me they allow them in their trucks. If not I might be screwed on my downtime when on my restart and the downtime after a day of driving. I would have a laptop and an xbox 360 for movies, gaming and whatnot.

Depends what company you go with. Central didn't used to allow inverters but that may have changed since I have been there. An APU is a small diesel pony motor that supplies power and air conditioning to your truck. Usually mounted to either the back of the sleeper or between the tandems and sleeper. Cost is about $8000-$10,000.
Sorry I stand corrected on myself, you can use a plug in inverter which should be more than ample enough to run a laptop or game device or tv. They don't or didn't allow hardwired inverters. You can buy a cheap inverter at Radio Shack or truck stop, Walmart probably even has them in the camping section of the store.

Nomad, in regards to your three weeks bad pay, that is why staying out 4-6 weeks is pretty standard if you want to make any kind of money. As you can see a few weeks of crappy pay and you have to make it up somehow. Hopefully some newbies will read that post and understand why you have stay out to make money. I think some people think just because you are away from home means you are getting paid.
Nomad, as for the single drivers running under a planner, I personally have never heard of that. My planner only ran teams and they were a select few.
Truckincouple, congrats! That's awesome!!! I take it you guys are running team? My wife and I ran team for Central and loved it! Don't be let down by the Fontana terminal, its not a very good representation of Central. You will end up loving the little place though when you need a place to crash for awhile. Plus as a team you will do a lot of drop and hook out of there saving you the LA hastle! That little terminal will definitely test your backing skills though! It can get tight in there. Course the showers are like that too! Im really excited for you guys, brings back good memories! I think you guys are going to have a hell of an adventure (in a good way)! Despite all the money we made, the memories and times we had out there are far more valuable and will last forever! Our only mistake was retiring! Make sure to take as many picts and vids as possible. As a husband/wife team you are going to make a lot of money and want to retire early so picts and vids will be your stronghold long after you have retired! My wife even used to keep a journal. Course nowadays you have facebook and the truckers forum. Good luck guys, maybe start a thread on your adventures!

They do allow inverters as I have a former student how had one installed at the wvc shop. And she was company. They only require a large fuse and you can have them.

Lady k n Klingon have you talked to Vicki about wanting more miles? I had the same problem when I first switched over to her. A little complaining goes a long way. Lol. Since then I've got over 5000 a week. Don't be Afraid to ask for drops either. She is very good. Just very busy. Too bad Sheldon decided to go back on the road. He always kept me running hard. This last week she had us run Iowa th north carolina and back to iwoa then back to va. Now we are running back to Denver. Almost 4500 miles in 5 days. Yes you will get stuck in a bad lane every now n then. Good luck and always drive safe everyone.
Oh ya got a new truck. So look out for 22724. Black 386Lady K Thanks this.
