Thank You all for the great info. Is the packing list still current (2007?). I am going out this week. I have amazed myself in how i shrunk down my packing.
I have only one medium duffle bag and my sleeping bag strapped to the bag.
with all of the items in the first post!

    One question:
Should i stock some quarters for clothes washing or, do truck stop washing machines take dollars now or, credit/debit cards?

I heed all of your advice and I feel somewhat comfortable in jumping into a new life as a OTR driver. I have started a new list of goodies when and, if I pass the training weeks, and obtain my own truck.

No need to stock up on quarters. Most truck stops will have bill changers, and if not they'll usually give you change at the register. Trust me they want your money and will be very useful in helping you hand it over.:biggrin_255:

I remember I went through training during the summer months and didn't pack a good coat. The trainer sent me into the freezer to count boxes and pallets going onto the trailer. FFFFFroze my ### off. If your training with a refrigerated carrier, even if its July/August, pack a coat and gloves!

That's such great advice and it's so close to the cold, hard truth that it warms my heart! And shoulders. And hands. HAH!

Its 20,000 lbs on each axle if you have a 10 ft spread. Anything less of that, its 34,000 for both axles.

Be aware of your trainer. If he's an owner/op don't piss him off or he will throw you off his truck, basically anywhere he wants~but don't be intimidated.

What would the reception be like with my CPAP machine and my new trainer? I heard I would need to get a inverter? Who can approve this and again what would the trainier think? (just general thoughts without reading their minds)

I'm sure the trainers are used to it. All Stevens trucks have inverters in then.
