Speaking of giving trucks a bath, do you have a pressure washer, John, or do you use goold old fashioned elbow grease?
I've used a hot water power washer for years, used good soap, and ran softened water as well, but could never get the absolute best results unless I pulled out a scrub brush, especially on the chrome and stainless. I had a guy convince me last week to try a new "brushless" soap, and it's blowing me away. I still can't believe how good it works.
You mix it up in a pump up garden sprayer, spray it on, let it sit for a minute, and rinse it off with cold water from your pressure washer. When you're done, it looks like you used a wash mit or scrub brush on the entire truck. No - it's not acid...I made sure that was my first question.
I know it sounds like I'm trying to sell this stuff or something, but I'm not. I just think it's a really good product, and want to let everybody know about it. The guy who sells it is a straight shooter, and everything he's told me about it so far is true. I don't want to spam the board, so if you want the website of the guy who sells it, PM me.

Starting to pick up some around here. Farmers i haul for started shelling corn this week, but the yields are not too good. Hope everyone stays safe and has a profitable harvest.

I use to stroll into the truck wash once a week with my Peterbilt but don't get to the city much anymore since buying the KW so it doesn't get washed very often. The car wash owners don't want big trucks so I may have to break down and buy me a power washer this year or next depending when I need a tax right off. In 2007 I spent $3000 on washing and polishing my new Pete and for the next three years it was around $1500 to $2000 a year. This year I have spent $473.97 so far, I think I am getting a little tight with my money in my old age. I always like keeping a clean truck but when your hauling rock six days a week you hate to wash it on the seventh day just to get dirty the next.

Glad to see you are keeping busy Big John. I believe going to a bottom dump was a good idea. Grain is still slow but should pick up a bit during harvest.
Irrigated corn harvest has started here but don't know about the yields. Most of the dryland burnt up, hopefully the beans make it.Big John Thanks this. -
I hope you have a good harvest, everything is bad here. The buyer I was hauling for did some switching around in the office and put the former guy that was over trucks back in charge and he is a real POS and has a bad reputation. He kept maybe five working for him but tells them it is slow or nothing to do then calls the big fleet south of us to do his hauling because all he has to do is make one phone call and they will do it cheaper. They also lost their hazmat authority so those trucks that pulled the bottles around are pulling hoppers and need all the work they can get to make payments. They think $1.50 is good money for local hauling. So my only choice for doing anything local grain hauling in the future is ADM and they have nothing going on down here.
I had a used truck/trailer dealer come down from Wichita to look at my Timpte hopper and he was interested but I wasn't interested in his offer. Told me that the market was getting flooded with hoppers and that is the best he could do and the market was going to get worse. I just said well I am not going to give it away and it can just set there holding the pavement down. No Deal!Last edited: Sep 5, 2011
