If you already have your CDL - this thread is irrelevant......

Big John, I think you are neglecting the fact that in your chart the O/O driver's pay as well as his "road expenses" come out of the revenue well before figuring the profit. In addition, a lot of the expenses listed there will not increase and most will not come close to doubling. There is no need to increase the truck/trailer payment and maintenance will not double. Also, your figures try to take the second driver's pay out of the initial revenue for a single driver. That means that you expect the second drivier to sit in the truc and do nothing? Let's say I only increase revenue by $125K compared to the experienced O/O who brought in $196K. That esily covers my pay plus any increase in exenses. Also, the O/O does not need to cover my road expenses I would even accept no health insurance. Add the numbers for the miles covered by 2 drivers and it changes the entire chart. It most certainly increases the profit margin. Again, if what you are saying is that truckers are too protective of their rigs and so no O/O would take this kid of risk, I certainly understand that. BTW, I wouldn't do it for 22 CPM. There re too mmany companies out there that will pay much higher than that out of school with tuition reimbursement.

I'm glad you have it all figured out. Soon with your posts that imply you know so much, nobody will offer you any assistance.

What is a well know fact is that team trucks seldom do twice as many miles as solo trucks.

I ran those number I gave you in that post through the spreadsheet. By adding 55,200 miles the cost of operation dropped by the CPM I stated and that was an additional gross of $94,392. Fuel, wages, repairs, taxes and misc all remain fairly constant regardless of miles. These costs make up about 74% of gross. You are right the fixed expenses remain constant and the cost in CPM decreases with an increase in mileage. That is where the stated CPM decrease came from.

You still miss the fact that nobody wants to put a lot of extra miles on their equipment to give you training when they can take it much easier and make a great living.

I tried every way I know how to show you it isn't going to happen. Now I see you know more than me so I'll leave you with your knowledge to beat your head against the wall. Good luck.

Plantcity, of course your maintenance cost will double! You are putting twice the amount of miles on the truck with two drivers! Not only that but if this guy is leasing then his over mileage will skyrocket too! Probably run $400-500 a month just in over mileage fees!

Like the other poster said, you have to take a pee pee test they are non-transferable. Since it isn't the same insurance company they will definitely want one. They really aren't that costly though. Probably $40.

Don't take this in offensive, though you have some slight knowledge of the industry you have no ground to stand on arguing with these guys about something you have no clue about. The facts and figures you are posting are a little misconstrued.

I appreciate what you are saying chompi. I also appreciate what Big John said. I initially posted on this forum seeking his advice on the issue because of what I read from him on other posts. What pisses me off is the implication that I am stupid because of what I m suggesting. If you're going to have a forum for new drivers to post questions then be willing to answer the questions. I asked because I DON'T know how the industry works. There are things in life I know about that I'm sure people here don't. When someone asks me a question, I don't treat them like an idiot. When they ask follow up questions I still don't treat them like an idiot. I appreciate everyone's input. See you on the road, however I get there.

    Geez, that sounds scary... :biggrin_2554:

All the better reason to do things the RIGHT way and learn the RIGHT way. You never did mention what was so wrong with a legit school? Is it cost? - Can't be the 3-4 weeks (although I know some vocational schools are longer...)

When guys on this forum hear from people looking for a "short cut" they feel that if you expect to be respected out here, that you will put your time and dues in like the rest of us.
The days of also learning from "Uncle Joe" are quickly coming to an end...

    :biggrin_25521:

I still wish you luck - but leave the training to schools. Perhaps once you get your CDL and some minor experience, then maybe some O/O out there might work with you to polish and hone your skills....You never know :biggrin_25525:
