Big John, hate it when dealers try and BS you. You will always see a higher volume of hoppers on market coming into summer but then starting in the past couple weeks they fly off the lot. I have watched dealers mark them up over the past month and they are selling. And some real POS at stupid prices being sold private party are selling.

Get it in the Truck Paper at a fair price and you will get some action.

    Big John Thanks this.

I spoke to a dealer who said they are starting to tell people "no trade ins". They have too many used trailers sitting around, and can not get rid of them.

Big John and wheathauler Thank this.

Wheathauler, did ya'll get any rain this past weekend from the storms,i did'nt pay very close attention to the national radar to see if it got to ya'll or not? We have gotten about 3 inches so far,and it looks like it's gona be thur. or fri. before the combines get back in the fields.

What area are you in? In IL, I just got finished looking at Truck Paper as we decided that we will likely get a 3rd hopper. We have three trucks and two hoppers. But ADM in our area is paying $75/hr during harvest. And with lower yeilds it looks like I will only be needed half the time. But need to stay near by. And at $75/hr I can gross over $800 to the truck.

So the 3rd hopper would be just for harvest when we are doing beans. Thinking of a Jet in the 10K range. Any issues besides the weight? When we use it we will be able to stay ahead of harvest so capcity is not a major issue.

Nope no rain. The temps were lower which was nice.

I had a jet 42 ft alum. It is a hardy trailer but it has a shallow bottom. Probes hit the bottom fairly easy.

ADM doesn't pay that much around here that I know of. Course ADM doesn't take any corn here either.

Well since we used a grain wagon as back-up last year I am thinking a Jet will do just fine. We can probably get 10k for our old wagon and that is the price I am seeing on some of these average Jet trailers.

ADM is the only one paying hourly. And it is likely because ADM Decatur is so s crewed up that they HAVE to pay by the hour if they want trucks. And the one by us that is less than 50-miles away would get no trucks because it is better to know you can get $800+ gross just on hours vs. the risk on having a bad day on a bushel rate.

But it is going to be a short year anyways. Beans are looking bad here.

I am not to worried about selling it and haven't even advertised it, I just told a buddy of mine that owns a new truck dealership here and he made a couple calls. It will turn around next year and we will have more grain then we can can handle, it doesn't hurt to wish. Oilfield work will not last for ever so I better keep it around plus Highside might get in a bind and need my assistance, a professional up standing driver like myself is hard to find. :biggrin_2559:
