I appologize for my bad grammar - I could pay more attention, it's just I don't think it matters all that much. As long as you can understand what I'm sayin, of course
OK, OK, I was a little too hard on Dice, he is socialist only indirectly. All this research and his passion is actually all good, with having motivation to do ANYTHING out of box these days is worth big applause.
Problem is, he and everyone else seeking 10mpg truck is totally wrong expecting that fuel efficiency will make him money. There are to time horizons to this:
1. in short run they will kill their trucks and will be forced out of business as getting financing on a new truck is almost impossible to many
2. in the long run - efficiency gains will be TOTALLY eaten by customers who will be able to cut the rates since we are all competing to get loaded.
The only reason you can't see it is your permanent ignorance
Yes, that Obama's socialist policy toward making truck fuel efficient is totally communistic approach. They assuming it's gonna be good for EVERYONE (check out "collectivism" term before you get back to me)
Biggest way to improve mpg temporarily is to lug the engine into 1100 rpm vs 1400 (where it should be mostly). But it is going cut its life tremenodusly - in half, at least. But then, idiots like you are not going to stay in trucking for too long anyway, thats why we have this argument - because you are just a bunch of greenhorns. Have nice day![]()
Is 10 MPG Possible with a Fully Loaded (80K gross) 5 Axle Truck?

Nobody's expecting a racecar to go 1,000,000 miles. Where the hell did this come from?
If you're talking about this coating on the ring gear and the pinion, it isn't going to ruin them after the coating wears off.
Note to Dice and others: I understand MicroBlue says it won't wear off, but if they are anything like molybdenum disulfide coating on engine bearings, it probably will eventually, though you'll still have the benefit of polished parts.
You said you have to drive at 34mph to realize the benefit of reduced frictional losses, as it gets slashed any speed beyond that.
Try checking the temperature of wheel bearings after driving at 34mph, and do the same thing after driving at 60mph. Tell me which one is hotter.
I don't know which universe you're living in, but where we live, frictional losses don't diminish at higher speed and the wheel bearings are hotter after driving at 60. Heat is the result of frictional loss.
You are correct on aerodynamic drag, though. No argument it is a big factor, and Dice has been addressing that area as well, and you'd know that if you actually read the whole thread.
We all run trucks to make a living, but it's also sort of a hobby for some. Nothing wrong making money doing what you love. He may not realize ROI that satisfies YOU, but it's his truck and it's his money and nowhere has he asked for any subsidy.
Do you really not understand that less load on engine (reduced aero drag, frictional losses, etc) results in less boost, therefore less fuel the engine requires to keep the pistons happy?
That said, I don't see anything wrong with improved fuel efficiency driven by emerging technologies and the market demand, rather than the government.
Now let me try this again. What makes Dice's efforts make him a socialist? He's doing this for his own gain. He's sharing the results here with the rest of us, and you're saying that makes him a collectivist?
The difference is, Dice isn't forcing anything to others. Obama is.
And you, sir, stated that Dice's experiments are idiotic because he will "kill his truck" by trying to save fuel, and you are trying to shove your ideals down his and everybody else's throats.
Nice of you for looking out for us, but if you apply your logic, you too are a collectivist and your approach is more akin to Obama's than Dice's. Good thing you are not an elected official. You'd make just as a lousy statesman as Obama.
I've already been doing it, but thanks for the tip.
Have a good evening, and please get a life for your own good.Scania man, Dice1 and 98989 Thank this. -

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I wrote a reply to each one of your paragraph, but in the interest of keeping this thread alive, I chose to delete them except the one above.
If you think I couldn't come up with any come-back at you and claim victory, that's perfectly fine by me. If I replied, we'd keep going back and forth with the same stuff over and over. It is clear neither one of us is going to convince the other.
I agree to disagree and move on with my life, and I hope you'll do the same. Good luck back to you, and good bye. -
If nothing else PH is entertaining, completely daft and clueless, imagine been his wife! God bless her, listening to that rubbish everyday! Probably has a better idea than her of how she needs to use the lav! On the down side once again he's managed to wreck a good thread, we could pick parts of his arguments all night that don't make sense and argue back but there's no point! He'll just keep coming back with stupid remarks and insults, we can all see how stupid he is, mildly ret**ded I'd say! so when he comments again, laugh to yourself and just ignore this prat because that's all he is!
Katz Thanks this. -
Maybe the best thing to do is ignore PH and let's get this thread back on track.
He does not bother me and it appears he is not even in the trucking industry that is obvious he is nothing but a little internet troll with no life with is only purpose is to stir the pot of hatred and discontent.
Pray for him because people like him have no life and/or no family and need some real divine intervention in their life.
Now let's get back on track.Shardrk, Scania man and Katz Thank this. -
