Yeah Zeb pretty much summed that one up!

If there isn't a new mattress in your truck then ask for one. I believe its one of those health laws or what not. I have heard it is mandatory that every new driver get a new mattress.

You can also have one made. Those memory foam mattresses are the greatest thing on earth! Every truck I ever had I had a new bed made for it. For those of you that drive for Central Ref. there used to be a truck shop next to the terminal in SLC and they had those custom memory foam mattresses up to a foot thick!!!!

As a thread about "Comfort items" I would say look for a company with APUs/Inverter or Let's you idle and have large Inverter. (2000 watt or more) Outside of trying to sleeping when burning or freezing the larger inverter will give you cooking options. (microwave, crock-pot, etc...) Why spend $15/20 for Denny's warmed up frozen food? :biggrin_25522: You can eat pot-roast, turkey legs, spare-ribs, stews, etc. for cheap. Only stop when the food is worth the price, it's all up to your imagination.
    Start Here:
    cooking in the truck :yes2557:

BTW: I would take 3 year old truck over a new one. Quality Control is not what it used to be. The company I drive for just took stock of 100+ new trucks. I have never seen so many {:biggrin_2555:New Trucks:biggrin_2555:} with check engine lights, 5000 Miles or less.
Let someone else debug them. You can't make any $$$$ sitting at the dealer.

P.S. Never Go with a company just because they have new trucks. :biggrin_25514:

Where would you go to find one of these??? I can understand about the need to want to be comfortable and I have thought about buying the memory foam pad from like Walmart and just cut it to fit. Plus I would think that they are big enough to cut in half and have double the thickness too.

There ain't no way I would sleep on someones old mattress. Bigger companies carry them in stock. Tell them the old one is all tore up, has a crater in it, blah, blah, blah.
9 times out of 10 they'll hand you a new one and let you deal with it. It's amazing how they can roll them things up in a little package.

If they want to see it, hurry up and pull your pocket knife out and put a rip in it, lol.

Back in olden days I was issued a fairly new Trans Star I cabover. New drivers get older trucks. It came with a worn out matress and a pet. Being a greenhorn I dare not complain. Had a am radio and the A/C and heat worked. A shiny 290 & a 13 over. Picked up my load and was on my way. A few miles out I felt something moving below my boots. Could not see it at first. A few miles passed and I got off at a rest area to update my log book. Felt it again. A harmless king snake had made a home in the heater vent, and was biting my pants leg. I opened the door and pushed it out with my tire billy. It took off to the woods. I thanked dispatch for the co driver when I called in. 35 years has past, I remember it like yesterday.
