Well at 22, wait 2-3 years until you can get into a decent company, spend the time wearing her down.

In all honesty it sounds like you will be choosing between your wife or your dream. We can't make that choice for you. If she doesn't want you gone, I doubt your marriage will work with you gone.

I lost a family over trucking when I was about your age.

Chompi would probably reply to this topic and might suggest to have her come with you as a team. I got back with my ex girlfriend now and she tries to talk me out of OTR as well. If I love it I may stick with OTR only and drop the girlfriend as I sacrafice too much for her to a point where I am not happy.

Good advice Newnashguy! Yep, that would be his best bet! If you can talk your wife into it you guys can make a killing! Might take some time to convince her. Maybe tell her $200,000 a year! All money aside though my wife loved it!
Took her a couple months to get used to the lifestyle and be comfortable out there. We really had the time of our lives out there together! At your age you guys could be retired at 30!

Now if she doesn't want to do it then I would recommend maybe leaning toward something else. Its hard to imagine what 2 months away from home is like with 3-4 days off.

It sounds like its fun eh...? You being so young i would suggest getting your family started and thinking about another career. I started when I was 25 and being just married it was one of the hardest things I had to do in my life..Yea it paid almost double of what I was making at the time but I gave up a hell of a lot! Brother you are still young take my advise try something else first!

I started otr after my wife and I had only been married a year. I was 21 she was 20. She supported me in my quest and now 18 years later I am finally buying my own truck. It was hard, being so young, and newly married. Remember this was before cell phones and wireless communication was common place. BUT it can be done. She needs to be strong, and supportive of you. You need to be supportive of what she goes thru while you are gone. And the last piece of advice is wait to have kids. We waited 7 years and that was the saving grace. Good luck!!! keep your head up!!!

Driver, Oh heck NO! Take her with you to share the places and things you can see together. That wife is worth way more than that truck.
