I'm all for the entrepreneurial spirit but guys marketing a product to a market he has no clue about. Clueless seems to be the theme on a couple threads tonight.

I got part of the bad half last week. To start with, he had a load listed 5 times with different destination cities. If I had confirmed that sooner I'd have hung up on him. Anyway, after waffling on the rate a bit, I reluctantly took it. Loaded cpm was ok, but more DH than I'd usually take. However, I needed to route home to handle some repairs. And then I waited. No rate confirmation. On my second call after 2 hours and threatening to drop it, he finally admitted (supposedly) that the shipper had moved the load to the next day and did I still want it? When I asked about the other loads, he admitted they were the same one.
Um no thanks (while writing down his extension on bad broker list).
So he inflated the load count in an area misleading me that the market was better than it was coming in, then sold me a load out that didn't exist. Of course, taking me off the market during the best hours in the morning to book a same-day load. What's not to love about that?BigJohn54 and Jarhead235 Thank this. -
TQL just like CHR has good and bad freight. CHR you have to complete like 50 loads with no incidents before you will see the good freight at all out of them... I know because I did just that. I used to refuse to haul for them cause of the old "Cheap and Heavy" stigma but as in any business, you dont give your prize accounts to the hands of an unknown carrier. Its the same reason a start up will rarely see a load from Landstar if at all. It took me 2 years to get on Landstars list and it is a good one to be on. The more loads we complete without incident, the better the numbers are on subsequent loads. Right now TQL and CHR are our biggest regular brokers we use. I do not have to look, they are always calling me for my available trucks. Just remember with these large brokers, you are dealing with small branch offices not corporate. You can get a bad office from time to time, its your option wether to haul for them or not. In the end it is always your decision to accept a load or refuse it so win lose or draw, that responsibility is always on you.

RedForeman, BigBadBill, bigchalk and 1 other person Thank this. -
I need to run the numbers with LS and see how many loads I have run for them. They are by far the highest percentage. I am on the list with a couple offices but problem is I have been getting the calls for my van and not my flatbed. But sure that will change and have driver for the van starting next week. So all is not lost.
I have one office with CHR that has me on the good list but they burn through the guys on the phones and when they call I have to remember not to get insulted. Just tell them to check with the boss to see if that is MY rate. -
We have made calls looking for loads and dealt with anyone who answers also.
Lately we have had a truck already dispatched at a location and have found after sitting there, the truck will not be loaded and the load canceled by TQL...
I know for a fact that TQL found a carrier to run the same load we have booked for less money and cancelled on us.
We were paid "truck not used" for cancellation of the load.( we were dispatched on location in writing by TQL)
This has happened 3 times on three different loads.
Remember that in this instance, where the this has happened has been in a busy demographic load area.
We won't haul for TQL anymore, ever for this reason.
crusinBigBadBill and 6wheeler Thank this.
