So Kokot. Just curious. If you know these OTR companies that will get you home every week or two, and they pay equal or better than companies like Stevens where you're out 5 weeks or more at a time...and since you're looking for work...why aren't YOU applying with these companies?

As for Alliance? Been working just fine for me. I know it's not for everyone. But I've been self employed more or less, most of my life, so I'm use to it.
My average take home check is over 800 per week (allowing for hometime) and I put $350/week into my T/O account.
I get home as often as I want.

If the real problem for you is you don't like OTR, then just say it. Nothing wrong with that. Some of us actually like it!

But I AM applying with them. I'm only waiting for Stevens to verify my employment.
Btw, They will pay me .35cpm + bonuses (MPGs, safety, ontime), 2700 miles per week average. Do your math.
More hometime and paycheck bigger than yours.
    Any more questions? :biggrin_25520:

Hopefully, you will have the same smiley face in a year with this new company. From what I read on TTR, the pre-employment story for things like miles per week is often very different once the driver is among the flock. I hope that's not the case with you. Me? I would love working an Alliance lease for Stevens. They just don't have much of a Michigan 'footprint' and it might get smaller. But I did see the first Stevens company truck today on I-96 outside my office! At least someone in the company has driven over it, even if the poor guy was lost!

I think you need to check your math. He said he's making over1150 per week (800+350). Figure the same 2700 miles and that comes to more than 0.42.
I know he's making more than that. I think he's figuring the 800 as net after taxes. But you'd have to ask him.
I saw his statement from last year. (he and I compete).
    You aren't close.
But I hope you get that job. sounds good for your needs.

Hmm ok, let's check my math:
    Me:2700x0.35=945
    Him: 1150-350=800
I remember from school, 945 used to be more than 800. But maybe you have different/new information. See I don't have any grades thus my education might not be sufficient for such a high mathematics operations.

    Oh I forgot the bonuses. +0.03cpm = 0.38x2700=1026
Given IF I'm gonna earn them. But fuel bonus shouldn't be that hard to earn. To get 0.02cpm is to make 6.5-6.8MPG (if I remember correctly) depending on truck.
That 0.01cpm is for safe driving and on time deliveries.

I did my research. Worry you not. They're solid company. I haven't seen one single complaint about them here on TTR.

Btw, they JUST called me that they finally got that employment verification from Stevens and everything's approved. Now I'm waiting for their safety guy to call me for test drive and drug test. Yay

Did I mention $1500 sign up bonus?

But I do like OTR. I just think it shouldn't be necessary to stay on the road for months-a-time in order to make money. Or wait till their highness's DMs will have mercy on you and send you home.
I spoke to many drivers at truck stops and vast majority of them said that they wouldn't stay on the road that long. Most of them is out 10-14-21(max) days and then they go home.

I requested T/O for Christmas second year driving for Stevens (9 months with Alliance) TWO MONTHS in advance. My DM said no problem. I was reminding them everyday when the time was getting close. 12.22 I was in Dallas (F-J on I20) I called for load to (or close to) Florida. Do you know where they sent me? To Portland Oregon!!!!
When I objected, they said no loads to Fl, pick it up, we'll repower you.
Do you know where I spent my Christmas? At Flying J in Cheyenne, Wy shut down for blizzard for three days. Good thing they had that RedBox there back then.

Needless to say, I straightened them (and myself) out after that experience and they never pulled anything like that again.
Well one time I just HAD to go home for appointment and they tried that "no loads to Florida" BS
I told them I'm dropping that trailer right here an I'm bobtailing home. (I had full tank and it was "only" about 1000 miles)
I was surprised myself how quickly there was a repower going to Fl all of the sudden.

better stick to truck driving, cowboy.
800 plus 350 still is greater than 945.
According to your math, if a person saves money, that doesn't count.
    guess we're all in trouble.
    Read his post!
He is saying he is making 1,150 per week. He simply saves 350.
    jeezzz!:biggrin_2559:

Yeah. He simply saves 350 so he can pay Stevens's lease when he goes home. So in effect, he doesn't save anything. That $800 is all he gets.

Your math truely sucks. I go home ever 4 to 5 weeks and I have no home time account. 1150 per week is more than what you are making. Funny thing I am never behind on a lease payment either. It is all in how onemanages their cash flow.
