    Hello there
I'm new to this but I was wondering if any of you know of companies hiring o/o. My parents own their own construction business but with this economy the jobs just aren't coming in. We have our own semi and we've been looking into hauling water in North Dakota. Driving a tank lines trailer. Are there any positions like this in TX? Thanks for your help!

No I havent applied at Nabors. The day I went to Stallion, I had planned on going next door to Nabors, but Stallion hired me on the spot. And yes I see Nabors trucks every day. Their yard is right next to ours. They use Mack trucks. Stallion uses KW, Pete, Frtlnr. All late models.

There are jobs like this in TX but they don't pay nearly what ND does. I saw a post for starting wage of $14.50 per hour in TX. Most in ND are $20+. Some $25+. Same goes for truck rates. Average in ND is probably $130 right now. Owner ops don't see all that but most see $110-$120. Winter is comin in ND and many will flock to TX when the snow flies. The problem is that ND oilpatch doesn't shut down in the winter so many companies that leave won't get work when they try come back in the spring.

well, some bad news for the Texas water hauling work. it seems that since the drought has been going on so long, the sites are having a hard time getting fresh water. since they cant get the water they need they have started curtailing the frac jobs going on. this means that the water hauling has slowed down a bit. not a big deal yet, but if it keeps up, it might become critical.

It will won't start etting real slow till December. If this is your first year haulin water then get ready cause usually dcember and January are completely dead. The only thing goin on is drilling and haulin production an everything else stops.

I have been looking at working in the oilfield but cant seem to get hired anywhere. I live in Florida and have a clean record but it seems like the problem Im having is a company that has temp housing or sleeper work. I couldnt relocate my family right away so it would be about 2 months before I can do that and we are looking at S Texas or N Colorado, any ideas in who to look into?

Based on my research these are local jobs. You are not likely to find a sleeper to use as these trucks run 24/7. From what I have seen only a small percentage offer housing. Many of the ones that offer housing have a time limit as it is meant to be temporary until you find permanent housing. I don't think you would have much trouble getting a job if you would move to the area.

One thing that might work is to rent a room. In these hard economic times, many are renting out bedrooms. This usually includes bedroom, Internet, use of refrigerator, washer and dryer and sometimes a seperate bathroom. I have seen prices from $375 - $500 per month. I usually say stay away from Craig's List but this is where I found rooms for rent.

Okay I have just spent the last 3 hours going over every post in this thread (or is it thread in every post ). Anyway I came here because Stallion has a job post in the Marine Corps Times newspaper looking for drivers. I am currently a truck driver here in Kuwait and my loads take me to various camps in Iraq south of Baghdad. Our contract is up and it looks like whoever gets the new contract, we will be getting a pay cut in the area of 33%. Kinda takes the incentive out of being over here in the first place. I am from the Central Florida area and I have HazMat and Tanker endorsements. I hauled heavy equipment with Hunt Transportation out of Omaha and I know for a fact they will take me back in a heartbeat. However after reading all the stuff here I am really considering giving the oil fields a shot. I probably have till around march of next year to decide if I want to stay in the sandbox or come back stateside. I do have a sister in Selma TX so I could base myself out of there while I hunt up the right job, but the Dakotas are a real nice place to live.I can't thank enough those of you that are putting out REAL INFORMATIVE info on the aspects of this field of trucking. I will be following closely these and similar threads.

    Lima Thanks this.

    Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am about to go into a 1 month CDL school. I have been reading about oilfield trucking for a few days now. This has captured my interests and raised the ceiling of what I thought trucking could pay here in the States.
    My question, as others are:
    1. Do companies hire drivers like me with no trucking exp. to drive oil tankers to and from oil fields?
    2. What is the average pay for no exp. truckers like myself transporting crude?
    3. How many work hours a week is average?
    4. Is there overtime pay over 40 in Texas?
    5. What is the low to high pay per hour wages for oil field truck drivers?
    6. What companies hires no exp. CDL holders to haul crude to and from oil fields?

Thank you guys and gals for any responses you could muster.
Love this forum also. Has opened my eyes to the great opportunities there are in trucking!
