No. YOUR math sucks. I can't understand how can you say that you are good with money management.
Let's see.
If you make 1150/wk and go home every 4wks
1150x4=4600
now subtract $650 for you hometime 4600-650=3950
divided by 5 (for 4 wks on the rd and 1 at home)
3950/5=790
So all in all you are lucky if you make $790 a week.
Is it broken down easy enough for you to understand?

hey denalidad where were you at in alaska?
i lived on the kenai and up in talkeetna for 18 years
i'm just getting restarted again myself -
Hey Kokot...forget trucking.
With those math skills, the government needs you!
Office of management and budget!

BTW, I put $400 in my acct every week. I think I've drawn from it once in the last year. Yea...I have a bunch in there. But I guess it doesn't count.
And I do know Max has almost nothing in there. He used it to purchase his truck.
But that doesn't count either. -
Btw, are you trying to tell me that both of you both never went home?
If you could tell me how much you took home all included before taxes and how many days you were home last year, the match would be much more valid.
Btw $400 every week? Really?+ $800 take home?
That would mean you'd be making over $60k a year.
Are you a trainer? As a trainer I'd be just a liiiittle bit more inclined to believe you.
Any other "special treatments" from Stevens?
If you're regular solo driver, I call it big, brown, steaming pile of BS. Regular drivers don't have a chance to make that kind of money with Stevens.
If you are making that kind of money as solo with Stevens, you're our god and we all should be happy that you are so merciful and blessed us with your presence in this forum.
I've made $38,000 before taxes in 2009 and I was home 8 days that year. Which equals btw to $730/wk. I think this is more realistic number regular driver should count with instead of your utopian/sci-fi/fantasy numbers.
Aren't you one of those who are making over 8 MPGs? (that's AVERAGE over 3 MONTHS) Coz I call them all bstters.
It is NOT POSSIBLE to run 8MPGs in Stevens truck with the loads Stevens hauls. And I don't care how slow you drive.
Unless you shuttle empty trailers back and forth that is...
Yeah yeah... I opened another can of worms...Last edited: Sep 16, 2011

In 2009 I, as most rookies, was runnung all legal and never refused a load.
In 2010 I changed my DM, refused a bunch of BS loads and ran illegally when necessary.
I made $34,000 that year and went home for 54 days.
That equals to $654/wk average.
This is realistic (and real) number.
If anyone tells me that he AVERAGES $1200wk takehome with Stevens solo or team, I'd tell him to pour some water on his pants coz they are on FIRE!Last edited: Sep 16, 2011
123456 Thanks this. -
I didn't see anyone complaining about miles going to toilet either.
What company from Iowa are you talking about. I know they acquired a company from Sioux Falls, SD (Quasar Express) and that was pretty small company (20-30 trucks).
I don't see a reason, why it would make any influence on their miles.
And my math skills, bad as they might be, are still better than yours. -
Boy, this has really turned into a urinary feat!
Yes, I train. No I don't get 8mpg. My average this year is 7.14 as of last night.
I don't recall how many days I took 'officially' home. Not many. However, I take layovers often enough in cities where friends and family live. I will often take two days at a time (convenient for a reset) in cities where my children and grandchildren live, so I consider that hometime, but it isn't as perhaps you consider it.
Point being, I get 'home' whenever I want and as often as I choose.
My wife will travel with me sometimes.
So I don't fit the 'normal' lifestyle of so many.
But it fits me fine. That's why I find it curious that people will condemn OTR lifestyle as too restrictive and 'unfair'. No hometime, always in a strange place, etc, etc, etc.
I don't think it's anyone's business what I take home, but it was in excess of $50,000 last year as a solo driver.
I know you'll call that BS, but if you do the math...140,000 miles at 0.37 (which is an easy number to reach) brings one to that figure.
I know people here at Stevens that are netting in the mid to high 40's.
But the real issue here, as I see it, is you simply don't like Stevens and don't want to see anyone here as happy or successful.
You will always come up with reasons as to why you cannot accept simple arguements as to why someone would work for this company and CHOOSE to stay.
If someone were to chaste Stevens, it validates your antipathy.
Sorry you feel that way. Not all of us do.
I think this thread has probably run it's course and would only digress to a mecurial sponsor of acrimony if left to continue.
For that reason, I consider it closed as far as my participation is concerned.
Good luck with your new job. I truely hope it works out well for you and if after consideration you decide you may want to participate on the Stevens forum in a positive manner, I for one, would welcome you to post.
After all, once a Buzzard...Nycmex77 and Corporal_Clegg Thank this.
