Some companies are, but hardly any over the road companies are union.

You dont need no stinkin union. If you want Ill give you my number and when you get the itch to join a union Ill put my 2 month old nephew on the phone so you can hear all the crying and screaming that a union would provide.

You could try the Ag industry also. Most of the work is seasonal... but some is year round. (End dumps and belly dumps).

Besides, it pays better than the bottom feeder companies anyways... and could keep you closer to home

i have noticed alot of this out in Arkansas, lumber and construction type stuff as well.

cheap and/or easy? nope that ship has sailed! my sleeves are rolled up. shot an app to the hwy department this morning to drive dump trucks for them, i have a buddy who works there giving me a reference. if they hire me CDL training will be included.

also: i kind of expected to hear a response to my email from jane at DDA by now, so far nothing. hmmmmm...wonder what that means?

CSA 2010 has tied the hands of the companies in some situations. A 7 year old DUI/DWI most likely will not make any difference, it is too old. But the felony conviction being within 10 years of that DUI are what is the problem. Assuming they are the ONLY things on your history, you should be able to get in with a company in 24 months or so.

Good Luck to you, and stay out of trouble!

    big_rig_ambition Thanks this.

Many a good driver got their start at one of those companies. They're usually a means to an end but I'm sure they have more than a few that found a home there.

I've hauled pork loin, chicken, and beef rounds in. I didn't say the prison cooks knew how to cook it. :) We know that. All the prison cooks work at the truck stops when they get out.
