If he could he would but the way things are with his place is three years and no accidents or trouble with your CDL, then if the business is in line he puts you in 4 months of training since it is not the driving but load procurement and such is very important when you haul mega heavy loads.
Most loads start at 65,000lbs just for the load itself.

You're not going to have any luck with the mainstream carriers, so I wouldn't bother wasting my time with them if I were you.
Did the pen have some type of rehabilitation program that offered job placement? If they do, I'd recommend going to them and inquiring about a job driving. Some local companies believe in 2nd chances and will hire a ex-con, but I wouldn't count on it.
Don't give up. -
aside from the texas workforce commission? no.
i am looking at the arkansas dept of workforce services (same agency, different state...since i paroled to AR) and will know more about their CDL program tomorrow.
they are looking for 300 people to put thru CDL training...the way i figure it felons are either all the way in or all the way out since it is state-run. time will tell.
thanks for the encouraging words, the response from this board has been #### near overwhelming! it would be an honor to be able to count myself among you.THBatMan8 and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
I would think the same also about the state CDL training. I would personally call them to see how their job placement is. I would also ask for it in writing. If you can't get any luck from them, start looking around at the mom and pop owned businesses as previously stated. If not, start asking O/O's and IC's if they want a 2nd seat. -
spoiler alert: there is too much money (the prison-industrial complex) in keeping people locked up to seriously consider any effort to help them stay out. meanwhile (in texas anyway) you have wardens making 90k+ a year plus perks like near-zero rent to live on these prison units, free food, free laundry service, gyms, pools, etc. all on the taxpayer dime. while i was incarcerated they shut down the HVAC class that i was in to save money also. prisoners are also used as free labor for the state, they build municipal buildings in town (you have to have alot of time, and thusly a more relaxed custody status) and run water purification facilities, hog and chicken ranches, garages, and farming operations as well.
these examples are just what i witnessed personally, and i wasnt really gone that long.volvodriver01, MexicoTrucker and THBatMan8 Thank this. -
2nd seat...as in...a co-pilot? i am unfamiliar with this term... -
harleymanjax Thanks this.

You might want to start out by calling several companies before you invest your time in a career which could fizzle from having the criminal background check going down in flames. The reality is five years out the joint and at least 1 year otr. clean mvr. no drugs.
