You do if you run out of hours and won't get any back for 2 days or longer

You can drive off duty to go to a different truck stop, and it won't count against your reset.

I invested a bit of money into my truck. I have a laptop with a WiFi card, TV, and X-box for entertainment, so taking a 34 hour reset in BFE doesn't bother me as much.

Pretty loose interpretation there, if that other truck stop is across the street you can get away with it probably, more than a couple miles or so? Wouldn't risk it. On elogs it would switch you to driving regardless.

No, e-logs won't switch you off line 5.

You can drive off duty as much as you want, provided you stay within company policy. The truck is not a prison.

Don't have a line 5. So no, can't drive off duty if you're trying to reset.

In a perfect world, you would shut it down at a TS near a mall with-in walking distance of theaters, restaurants, bars, hotels, truck dealers, casinos, lakes, Nascar tracks, stadiums whatever. Downtown Nashville comes to mind, the TA.

Good luck finding a parking spot during a NASCAR race though. :biggrin_25523:

Ok, I'll be the first to admit that I am not the most up to date on HOS, but when would you ever run into a situation where you run out of hours for two days or longer. What happened to picking up hours after 24 hours?

Ding Ding Ding. Winner winner, chicken dinner. There is nothing that says you have to take a 34 reset. It is an option you can use. Of course if you remember the magic number of 8 3/4 you'll never have an issue. (That leaves 45 min on line 4 and 8 hrs driving enough for about 500 miles per day. give or take. 3500 miles a week (+/-) and never run out of hrs.)

But if you chose to take one, its only one day off not a big deal. Start at 8pm Sat night and leave 6am Mon morn. (or what ever days you chose)
