Hi! So what's the use of the little window at the bottom of some passenger doors? Is it to see if you're about to get hijacked?? Also, what's with the mirror above the passenger door that allows you to see directly below it?

Lastly, what's the purpose of marker lights, especially on the roof? Are they just for show or is there function?
I could see they might be useful trying to judge a low overpass in the dark, but as for the ones not at the very top of the roof?

The window is for drivers with short dogs, so that they can see out!

Not really, both the window and the mirror you ask about are to provide better visual coverage of the blind spot right beside the passenger side of the cab. Personally I like a fender mounted mirror to do that, but I don't have a little dog either!

I remember Peterbilt, Ford and GMC cabovers used to have a mini west coast mirror mounted in that spot window.

That little window and collimate mirror are used to aid the driver when running over stupid-assed 4-wheelers who pretend to be drivers or dumb-assed wannbees who troll trucking forums......

Marker Lights are used to see at night when the drivers are in Cali.....
Cali requires all trucks to turn off their headlamps when entering the state to conserve energy......And CARB approves as well....You burn less diesel when you don't run your headlamps at night.......Less diesel...Means less emissions.....

    Ok....Anymore questions?
