so the less you jack around and the more you stay in the road the quicker it will get done. whats the norm for getting 30k. just a throwout guess

 

Average? 4500 miles/week: 7 weeks. JCW was out longer for 2 reasons: 1. He had to wait on his trainer to route thru SpringMO, and then they had a week down when the radiator had to be replaced. Wouldn't have been that long, but somewhere between SpringMO and Detroit, some connectors for said radiator disappeared.

 

ok. so im looking at about 3 to 4 months total befor i land solo, is there any more required for the flatbed division, that where i was planning on going.

 

The website is behind.... it is 30,000 miles, how long that takes depends on factors. flatbed requires you go through specific training. If you go out with a flatbed trainer for TNT, that I guess would suffice. If you go through tnt on the reefer side n then come over, you must go out for 30 days extra. This is the route I took. Now Ill have both reefer and flatbed training. It would be better to hang with a trainer through the winter, I admit that. I just cant team anymore.

if someone finished training and wanted to stay team instead of solo for the extra money is it easy or hard to find another person that might want to team? and what do you do tell the fm?

 

Yup... let your FM know. Otherwise, its up to you to find someone - talking to folks at the terminal is one way to find a partner.

Depends on you, your trainer, and your FM.

A lot of trainers might run Super Solo the first week or so just to see how you can do. So you won't get a lot of miles.

Myself, my trainer was also my instructor so we were comfortable together, on top of that our FM trusts us both a lot. So we have been averaging around 5500/week.

Flatbed you need to spend at least a month with a flatbedder. Though there are trainers out there that are flatbedders, so if you get one of those then you are good.

Also keep in mind, you can't go solo until you trainer and FM say so. If your trainer is unsure of your ability by any standard, he can keep you on the truck longer and their is nothing you can do.
